Hi All
Booked the car in for an update to the new 2015 maps for my 2011 S4, I was previously told it would be just a plug in upload and would take about 30 mins. Took the car in today only to be told they need the car for a system update? which would take min 3hrs.
My question is:
Was wondering if anybody else has had this done ?
What is on the update ?
What is the price for the map update ?

Thanks

The MMI software needs updating usually in tandem with the maps which genuinely takes hours to do. I'm not sure exactly how much the update costs but I believe it to be over £200...

Or free if you search the web

If you had a reliable link then I would be amazed. Yes, the software is available but the involvement is massive and activating it doesnt work so you end up with MMI that turns off after 10 minutes. That was for the 2014 version at least but I cant imagine it will have changed for 2015. Audi seem to be one ahead of the crackers so far...

just got mine done, from Audi - £240 +VAT - and it's still 5hite!

Great !!! Probably more wasted money then...... What's on the update which takes 3 hrs and is the sat nav different to my 2011 version?

Sod that! Unless you do a lot of miles all over the country regularly, not worth it IMHO. For the odd occasion of getting a direction that isn't right, I'll leave with it for that cost.

This. My current car is a B7 with RNSE. It currently runs on 2013 mapping, and I've yet to get lost. :)

OK!! But what about the system update? , I might reconsider the naff update. Audi told me they can't do the nav update until they do the system download taking 3hrs.

Wow that's a lot of cash. A new TomTom with lifetime maps and traffic is less than that.

If you have a 3G HDD unit just head over to the link I previously posted and upgrade for free

Do you use the USB for music? I want to know if they have fixed the shuffle setting not being remembered. If so then I might push to get the update done.

no just use ipod interface or SD cards for music.

The problem is with SD cards too. Could you a quick test for me? Can you play music on an SD card, put on random (in the settings I think). Leave the car until the next time you go back in and see if random is still selected. Mine just drops back to sequential, and always forgets my random setting :-(
Thanks!
