Improving the ride on an 8P S3. Any Koni FSDs fit?

I have recently bought a 2011 8P S3, and joined this forum. Like others, I find the low speed ride a bit harsh. It has 18" rims with new 225/40 series tyres. Would switching to 17" + 225/45 tyres make a significant difference?

I'd really like to switch to Koni FSDs, but Koni don't list them for the 8P/S3. The 2100-4016s fit the A3 quattro with normal ride height only. The 2150-4001-2 is recommended for A3s if the suspension is dropped by 1". Would these fit the 8P S3? Another possibility I've seen is 2100-4090. Any experience out there? Advice? Does anyone else make a quality hydraulic shock for the 8P S3?

I should say in the ride/handling compromise, I'm willing to sacrifice the latter (a bit) for the former.

Eibach sportline or some form of H&R lowering spring with Bilstein B8 should see you right.

It will, naturally, be stiffer than OEM but should remove that fidget you get from the OEM shock when it doesn't know what it wants to do.

Bilstein B8's fitted here love them, had FSD's on my mk2 Leon FR and the bilsteins are better. i orig looked for the FSD's but as with the S3 i couldnt find them for my 2.0 tfsi quattro

I will need new dampers at some point and naturally it will be B8 vs FSD.

Would you say the B8 (with Pro-Kit springs) are OK to live with on local B roads that aren't in best shape?

Yes, i was a bit concerned at first before i got them but it handles well and its firmer and more precise feel but without being harsh corners and bends are a joy.
