8V VCDS Mods

Could someone link me to the needle sweep please? I've tried a few searches but can't find it :( thanks

Here ye go

Enable Pointer Test / pointer deflection / Production / Staging

In dash panel insert you the option of the Audi A3 8V to activate a link test / staging. With the ignition on so all hands go back in AI briefly stop and return to the starting position.

The following code is used:

  1. Select STG 17 (panel)
  2. STG Long Coding -> Function 07
  3. Byte 1
  4. Enable bit 0

Live with VCDS coding instructions:

Quick question on the acoustic lock/unlock.

If you enable lock and unlock together with the MMI menu but then deselect it using the menu option will it then still beep when unlocking ?

I think the mmi will disable it full stop, as when we did this to @nickatkinson car on saturday there was only one option in the car menu.

Fantastic! Thanks very much

Earlier in this thread it mentions visual confirmation of comfort closing, what exactly is this? Couldn't see anything saying

I was hoping it was an additional beep / blink upon the successful closure of all windows and sunroof via the key fob but when I tested this I could not see / work out what the change was if any. It's on my list to configure and test again.

I enabled the unlock and lock beep for @nickatkinson on saturday
[09] CENTRAL ELECTRONICS

Acoustic (Alarm Beep) on Lock

NOTE: Car makes one chirping sound, does not use the horn.
[09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung verriegeln (Lock acoustic feedback)
CHANGE: Set each or one of them to Yes

Acoustic (Alarm Beep) on Unlock
--------------------
NOTE: Car makes two chirping sounds, does not use the horn.
[09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen (Un-lock acoustic feedback)
CHANGE: Set each or one of them to Yes

Acoustic Lock Menu (only for lock, enable/disable using DIS)
--------------------
NOTE: From factory there was no option to enable/disable using DIS.
[09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
Acknowledgement Signals -Menuesteuerung akustische Rueckmeldung
CHANGE: Set Yes

Thanks to you and DJAlix for the information and help. I still haven't been able to activate it and I have tried all ways except beta 15.3. When I enable it for the DIS it doesn't show up or anything. I can enable oil temp and parking optics on screen but not this for some reason and its something I really want. I suppose I can only try beta 15.3

Other than trying beta 15.3 I am at a loss of what else to try without being with the car. If you are in or around North London I would be more than happy to throw a 2nd pair of eyes on this for you.

Is this legal? I mean If the cops stop you what can you say?

I was thinking the same also a dead giveaway to the dealer that the cars been modded as not very subtle so you'd need to reverse this before taking it in.

thanks alot but unfortunately I live in Manchester and don't travel that much. I will try with beta 15.3 and see how I get on and report back.

thanks again

A request if I may...

Was wondering if someone here with both the Auto Lights (Xenon Plus PX4 w/ Automatic Range Control) and Coming Home / Leaving Lights options from factory could post up the Central Electronics (Address 9) section from their scan? Am trying to work out which light sensor and light switch variants I need to retrofit.

For anyone who might be interested in this retrofit the following parts are needed as well as coding:

Needed Sensor = 8UO 955 559B. (also need are a new "gel sticker pad" 8UO 955 609 and "retaining spring 8UO 907 671").

Once the sensor is installed Auto Lights can be added:

Needed Light Switch = 8V0 941 531L. The Q variant will also work.

^ Haven't got one ;)

But it could fall foul of:

4.5.7
Direction indicator lamps shall switch on independently of the other lamps . All direction indicator lamps on one side of a vehicle shall be switched on and off by means of one control and must flash in phase

No idea to be honest but still have it activated. Living in London I am sure I will find out if it's legal or not in the next few days :)

The new TT indicators don't just flash so I suspect you'll probably be fine with the police although it's most certainly not legal.

UK Legislation: The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, schedule 7 part 1 (10 b):

All indicators on one side of a vehicle or combination of vehicles showing a flashing light shall flash in phase, except that in the case of a solo motor bicycle, a motor bicycle combination and a pedal cycle, the front and rear direction indicators on one side of the vehicle may flash alternately.

Looks like it's a no go :(

its clearly a sad no :( as it states that they have to be in phase.
I might have to check the spanish legislation anyway but i dont think that I can get away with it.

(1)-Acknowledgement Signals -Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen (un-lock acoustic feedback)
(2)-Acknowledgement Signals -Akustische Rueckmeldung verriegeln (lock acoustic feedback)
Set one or both to on if you wish.
Then set the following to "on"

It did this fine but the beep is not there. Any ideas please?

I've just done this on mine and it works well the beep is pretty subtle, have you done the line to add the menu line in the MMI and then ticked the box ?
[09] Central Electronics -> Adaptation ->
(7) Acknowledgement Signals -Menuesteuerung akustische Rueckmeldung

Yes

I did read in another vag forum (might have been a skoda/vw one), that someone had found a VCDS mod which allowed you to see how many litres were remaining in the fuel tank? Is this a mod which can be done for the 8V?

This worked on my Mk3 Leon but I found it to be quite inaccurate so removed it.

One from the Leon that I'm going to try on my 8V is the high beam assist activation speed as I feel it's set to high at the moment.

A lot of these mods are interchangeable between the MQB platforms but you'll find that the channel numbers under the adaptations are different so best to look for the text in the coding rather than the number.

Is on my list of Mods to test. Next coding session opportunity will not be until Saturday :(

What's the usual etiquette for getting someone to carry out some VCDS mods for you? I'm assuming something like beer vouchers etc.?

I had a look at the VCDS map but not sure it's up to date, and again unsure of contact etiquette. Is there anyone around Glasgow / Lanarkshire that would be willing to do some mods, I'm sure we can come to a deal?

Cheers
Stevie

The mods do up date that map pretty fast when given the needed info. I would check for someone close to you and shoot them a message, is what I did before I picked up VCDS.

Suggest checking on the VCDS map and PM a local person. VCDS users may have any model of VAG, not necessarily an 8V so more likely to get a response from a PM.

You could post a request in the VCDS section but even though I have VCDS (not local to you though) I don't trawl that section looking for requests for help in my area so you risk your request going unanswered.

Just ask them; beer tokens are common and some people do it just for the pleasure of helping others and meeting a fellow Audi enthusiast. I don't have a problem with people asking me but I found it easier to just put it in my sig.

Good luck.

John.

HBA on speed 32kph was 58kph.
HBA off speed 24kph was 28kph.

Pretty straight forward there is a High Beam Assist module so easy to find the adaptation channel. I think if you have Lane Assist then this coding is in the camera module.

Thanks @DJAlix and @JohnnyM100 , noted and much appreciated! :hi:

Apparently we now have the option to close windows via rain sensor should it pour down when locked and windows ajar. Will post more when I find it.

Have tested this on my car and it did not work. Am guessing it's because I currently only have a Humidity sensor (located on the windscreen, in the mirror mount) and no auto wipers. Have just had a combined Rain, Light and Humidity sensor delivered but have not had the time to install it yet to continue testing, but although the Rain closing seems to work fine for MBQ VW's and Skoda's, other people with Audi's (on other forums) have coded and failed so far :(

Regenschließens is the word in german
I already tried it with VCDS 12.12.0 and no sucess
Theres 2 things to do (i Think)
Turn the sensor on in permanent mode and enable the menu in the MMI to activate this function.
There should be a menu in the MMI but wasnt able to activate it.
