It's a standing joke in my family, I like my seat base through the floor and low low low. In my TT this wasn't a problem, seat low, wheel as far out as possible and I felt connected. I'm only 6ft but I've got very long legs so I tend to have the seat far back too.

In the S3 I find the seat base doesn't go as low as I'd like, and the wheel doesn't come close enough for me to have my arms nicely bent. I just feel slightly strange whilst driving, even 2 weeks in. Is it because of my peculiarly odd tiny torso or does anyone else find this too? Would I be better with Super Sport seats or as they for more lateral purposes? (I have manual seats btw)

I must be the opposite to you. I have quite a long body but short legs. I have to have my seat in the lowest possible position otherwise my head hits the roof. When my wife drivers my car she always says it's like getting in to a pit and she has to raise the seat quite a lot. Mind you I have electric seats so it's no effort. Memory seats would be useful but that option is only available from the A4 upwards. Perhaps I'll have a new A4 Avant next time.

I have my seat as low as it will go and fairly far back with the wheel fully retracted and also as low down as I can get it without the rim blocking my view of the dials. I've always preferred to drive with arms out straight rather than bent.

There are quite a few posts and threads on this forum, about how a good/natural/comfortable position is hard to achieve easily/quickly in the car.

I'm probably a different case as I am 6ft 6" tall. I like the seat mid-height and also have the bolster out for extra leg support (nice feature). I have super sport seats and have adjusted to an extremely comfortable driving position. Very happy.

after 5 years in my GTI, where I never managed a comfortable driving position.. always felt like I was sitting on a milk crate......my S3 is significantly better, the key was being able to adjust the angle of the seat base for me.

I think the seats in my 3dr were harder to set to a comfortable position than in my sb.

Standard s-line seats, 5' 9" and have seat fairly high and upright and must say this is most comfortable car seat I have ever sat in. Often do 5-6 hour drives and always with no aches and pains at the end of the journey.

Yep, I had a 12 plate GTD which felt like sitting on a milk crate!! best explanation ever! haha

Right!

I don't like the seat position. I cant sit confortable with a helmet inside the car for a track day :(
I look at the base and think its very low; the problem its on the floor. There are a structure that get it high for the seat base. (Sorry if you dont understand me. I speak spanish)

I'm 6'4" with long legs.

I don't think I've ever driven a car where the seat base goes too low!

To the OP, the lack of clutch pedal on the s-tronic allows me to rest my left foot to the right of the dead pedal. This allows me to move the seat forward and sit closer to the steering wheel. It does mean my right knee is sticking up in the air but I find this the most comfortable driving position.

It should be possible to remove the dead pedal if required.

Fiddie, you must rather tall, I am about 174cm tall, and still have plenty of headroom, with a helmet on ? there is still a couple of cm before the helmet would hit the roof lining, of course I am assuming you can adjust the height of your seat ?

I am only 5ft10 but have the seat as far back as possible.
I have DSG, so basically have the seat back so when the throttle is floored, my right leg is fully extended.

My main reason for doing this is that I have been in four accidents in the past (only one was my fault) and that airbag ****** hurts!!!
I'm an ugly ******, so don't need airbags making things even worse!!!

I have it as low as possible and bring the front of the seat up to support the back of my legs (really comfortable on a long run)

I find whenever i get a new car for weeks and maybe months afterwards i'm still tweaking the seating position. Then of course if it gets moved when i put it in for a service....!!

I felt exactly the same as you about it. I came out of a TTRS into the S3 and it drove me potty trying to get a comfortable driving position in the S3. The seats don't go low enough, the steering wheel adjustment is plain awful and the hanging throttle pedal is awkward. I've got SSS in my car, so it's the same problem with those as well. I kid you not, it took me nearly four months and 8,000 miles or so before I finally felt comfortable and connected to this car. All I can say is, get it as right as you can, then live with it. Resist the temptation to fiddle around and you will eventually get used to it and find a half decent driving position in the S3. It's still not the greatest. Biggest issue is the fact the steering wheel can't be pulled out far enough/low enough - to compensate, the solution I found was to get used to sitting closer to the pedals. Like I said, not ideal, but you do finally get used to it and 'settle in'. It should not be that hard though. Glad it was not just me! Oh, I'm 5'11" not like that should make a lot of difference...

If the wheel came further out then it would compensate but I'm in the same situation as you, I've changed my seat position again tonight, it's only a 6 mile round trip to work!! Glad someone has the same comparison from the TT to the S3. I've been somewhat underwhelmed with the S3, I was going to keep it for a long time, however I think it will be a 2 year thing now. Driving position and wastegate rattle are very frustrating.
