Was bored when I got home from work, so decided to go to halfords and get some paint. Did a bit of research and got this:

Probably should have waited and done it in the light as I miss masked a few bits, so will need to do a bit of peeling in the morning. Overall very happy with the £9.99 spent.

Hope you like. Think I will do the mirrors in the morning.

Lol. It does look good even if it's in the wrong place. Will it chip easy and what prep do you have to do?

Prep just included cleaning the grill and masking around it. I read on a Skoda forum about using this stuff as it was recommended over plasti dip and they said it didn't chip. I guess I will just have to see.

Looks great will deffo be doing mine, did you have to put anything behind the grill first?

Thanks

Chris

I didn't do no, but I guess you coild easily slide some card behind it of you wanted to stop any overspray.

Debating whether to leave the rings black?

Looks really good mate. im thinking of doing this until i can afford the rs4 grille
i would keep the rings chrome, front needs a little bling :thumbs up:
my car is black and my grille is kinda grey. thinking of doing the grill black and the bottom bar chrome to match the rings

Painted the fog grills this morning to match aswell. Could do to neaten up the lower bar at some point, but very happy with the look. Before

After

Certainly transforms the car and looks great, I love black grills.

Just for reference, the front bumper can be removed in about 10 minutes and the grill in about 2 after that so would mean easier to paint and avoid any overspray etc in the future.

Great Job!

Love the full black out grills.

IMO, I would definitely give the wing mirrors the gloss black treatment to match:D

Looking really well Jamie, good work mate! .. I used the Halfords spray before myself and it was really good I was happy with the results also! .. Black certainly is the best imo, it gives the car a more meaner look!lol

Nice work looks good

Silver rings for me but grill looks great :)

I want to. Can the caps be removed on the early b8s? If so how?

Im not too sure to be honest but in theory they should be able to. I would phone your local Audi and see what they say.
If not you could get them wrapped? With SO many variations of wrap, you almost cant tell the difference.
Im going to do one or the other.

If you remove the mirror glass, get behind it on one side and give a little tug... Behind it is only one cross thread screw, remove this. Push in the tabs you can see and pull at the top of the mirror housing, you may need to do one side then the other. I find standing looking towards the rear of the car the best place. You need a bit of force so don't be afraid... Toughest tab to get released is bottom right (if looking at mirror from back to front... On the offside)

Hope this helps!

I removed the fog grills. Takes 2 seconds to remove them. I did about 3 coats on each of them.

Do they just pull out?
Ive got a rs grill to go on so I'll do the fogs at the same time. Just waiting to get the deval rear diffuser and I'll be all set for exhaust then.

Just did my interior bits black...think it went pretty well tbh! May have to redo the larger piece though as you can see some paint runs

It's a pretty easy job but I redid the little one as it had a really really bad run on it...which annoyed me...had to take it all off...but it came off In bits...wife and I worked out the best way to remove it...use brown tape...it's like waxing! Unless you wait till it's really really dry 24hours...

I never could understand why Audi fitted these in a colour that didn't match anything else in the interior

We had ours wrapped a few weeks ago but the wrap didn't like some of the edges and started coming away so now been painted gloss black in a body shop along with the other bits. Look superb fitted

Not bad for a diy job Jamie. I guess only time will tell if it lasts.

How many coats was it pal, I'm gonna do this on my S3 8p looks well and certainly cheaper than a new grill.
