Looks good mate, tints on white cars are the best.

I didn't realise they go on the outside though, always thought it was done on the inside! What sort of price did they hit you?

He cuts them to size on the outside first then puts them on the inside.
For the rear windows on my SB it was £130.

Ahh right that's a good price though! What is the Audi cost £300???

The other advantage is that (not that you want it to happen) if you had an accident the glass would be less likely to fly into the car/passenger if it broke.

PS: I like the Audi rings on the door as well ;)

Not exactly true to the thread title but last weekend fitted the Trups LED bulb upgrade to the door puddle and warning lights. This weekend it's having a Gyeon detail with MOH+ and Q2 Durabead also putting my cherished plates on.

Thanks I like the Audi Rings as it makes it different to the other White A3 that lives just up the road from me.

Got a quote for a door dent repair...

I was hoping it could be a PDR, but it turns out because of the location just an inch behind the drivers door on the rear quarter panel it cannot, so it's a fill and spray job. £60 job now £260 :unhappy:

But then I cleaned it again today, and waxed it too...................that's twice in four days.

Oh nooo how did you manage that?

Lifting a box of bike spares off a shelf in the garage. Lost my footing, the box tipped and a rear hub, complete with cassette, dropped from head height onto the wing of the car. I was (and still am) livid with myself for my own stupidity and carelessness, currently trying to summon the courage to get a quote from Audi for a new wing.

Fair enough. I'm keeping half an eye out for an S3 grille and mirror caps for mine, but no major rush as I'll have the car at least 10 years.

I did this. Then I did some swearing. Quite a lot of swearing, in fact.

Paid £430 to get very similar sort or damage take out of my bonnet (deep, jagged scratch). Would have thought it would be the same sort of price depending on if they need to blend in to the bonnet. Mine was blended and I can't not see where it was done, I am SUPER fussy and spent 4 months finding the right bodyshop which luckily was my Audi dealer....:)

Cheers. I can't imagine they'd need to blend anything though, it's a stand-alone panel after all. Should just be a case of painting it Glacier White and bolt off/bolt on, surely?

As noted - I am super fussy......

Paint technology has moved on leaps and bounds in the last 7 years since I last had a panel resprayed and I was pleasantly surprised how they do things now. They do not remove panels - instead, they usually mask up most of the car and spray the panels effected / need to be blended. This is to save time mainly. Was shown the whole process by my Audi bodyshop before giving them the green light on the repair. Blending depends on two things - the paint shade and the age of the paint. My white (Amalfi) is difficult to shade correctly - hopefully yours will be OK. It is down to the skill of the sprayer at the end of the day also.

If your keeping your car that long I would not rush it and do plenty of due diligence and ask to see their work in progress to judge their competence :)

Ah right, I'd just assumed it would need a new wing. The car is less than 6 months old and spends the vast majority of it's life tucked away in the garage. Coupling that with the fact that most of it's 5,000 miles have been covered in dull or dark light conditions due to the time of year, one would like to hope that the paint colour is still 'as new'.

Unless your wing is very heavily dented (which it doesn't look like it is) then the process will be sand down the damaged area and approx 4-5 inches around it. Primer and then gradually build up new layers of paint with different pressures on the paint gun so it will blend in with the existing paint. It will then be lacquered (the whole panel) - if done well you will never see it.

The cost will be down to area sprayed and time spent doing it....the smaller the damage the harder it is to blend in to the existing panel hence the cost (that's what I was told).

Ouch that's bad I can imagine how you feel, bet you thought "Why didn't I just move the car first to be safe"???

I did something daft a few years back, I put an extension lead through the house window and into a socket, once finished from inside the house I lowered the plug end down to the window ledge on the outside, thinking it would rest there and then I'd go outside to pick it up...it didn't the wire whipped the plug off the ledge and straight onto my car bumper leaving a nice chip. All I could think of after the event was why the F did I do that and not just rest the plug at the window opening or move the car to be safe???

I'd get a quote from the likes of chips away and see what they come up with, it may not be as bad as you think! Good luck.

Aye, all the 'what if's' go through your head immediately afterwards, it just makes you feel worse though! I've thought about Chips Away and may well give them a shout. I've seen them slated on here and elsewhere, but my personal experience dates back to 2006 when I bought a black car with a big (about the size of a 50p) chip on the front bumper. Chips Away sorted it on the driveway for about £100 and the repair was completely invisible. I had the car for 3 years and there was no deterioration either, you really wouldn't have known anything had ever been done.

I used chipsaway on my old merc and would recommend them, but not quite sure how competitive they are on prices though

Gave it a wash, 30 minutes later was treated to this

Tried out some new snow foam, Autobrite Direct Magifoam. Wasn't to impressed to be honest, maybe I diluted it to much.

Wayyy too much dilution. I use Magifoam, it sticks on like shaving foam.

Poor grass.... Are you allowed to wash your car anywhere in the UK ?
