Hi guys, I\ve got a little bit of a problem with my B7 recently, just a day after I picked up the car from garage after replacing the chain and tensioner behind the engine the car started behaving weird.
On cold engine EPC light comes on and car goes into limp mode unti it reaches 90 degrees then I stop and sytart the engine and it's fine, it doesn't come back till the next morning. Hooked up my VCDS to see if theres any errors and it keeps on giving me this:
1 Fault Found:

008852 - Fuel Pressure Regulator Valve (N276)
P2294 - 004 - Open Circuit - Intermittent
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 00100100
Fault Priority: 0
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 255
Mileage: 172644 km
Time Indication: 0

Freeze Frame:
RPM: 1730 /min
Load: 69.4 %
Speed: 35.0 km/h
Temperature: 59.0°C
Temperature: 8.0°C
Absolute Pres.: 1000.0 mbar
Voltage: 14.351 V

Obviously went back to the garage and valve and hpfp looks fine. Any ideas please guys?

Open circuit suggests they haven't connected one of the connector blocks onto the Hpfp.
You usually get the open circuit code when ever any of the connectors are unplugged on any part of the engine. Check the connector on the top of Hpfp (high pressure fuel sensor)
And the lower connector block which goes into the side of the Hpfp (low pressure fuel sensor) these are the only 2 blocks which connect to the Hpfp.
If this doesn't work, check the blocks for any cracks or Broken connectors, especially at the top, the top one controls fuel pressure after idle, so limp mode would suggest that this is possibly the issue. Also if this is broken or cracked it won't work at all (I broke mine in the past and nearly went through the screen when it hit boost and then went immediately into limp mode) this also means a new Hpfp!! Make sure this isn't at your expense. Hope this helps

Hi Craig, I've been to the garage today to change the oil in the gearbox and brake fluid as that was overdue and we had a closer look to that valve that's bringing problems and it seems like there is a crack on it's plastic part and it looks like it's been glued in the past so I'm now guessing this is an issue?

Yes mate, that's the problem. Unfortunately you can't buy the high pressure fuel sensor separately. I'm afraid it's a new pump.
Could try tps for nothing I guess.

Yeah, I know mate, did some research about them. Thinking of a second hand one off ebay for around £50 first.

It was the cracked sensor that was causing it so I replaced the whole pump and it's fine now.

Thanks for the reply, I have no crack but the code that stays there if cleared, drives you mad, doesn't it thanks again anyone got a good sensor lieing around to try ?

I don't think you'll be able to replace just the sensor, replace the whole unit mate

I've got a second hand pump in full working order if it's any use to you? £60 posted
