revo S3 stage 2

Pretty crap numbers for Stage 2 when APR are advertising 380bhp for Stage 1!

I you check Revo's website you'll see they say the stock power figure is around 280bhp, which I assume is so they can claim a higher bhp gain...

Before I get called an APR fanboy, I've used Revo on two previous VAG cars, one of which needed a full replacement engine...

Revo claim 296 bhp on their website . I've had 2 cars mapped by revo and have always been impressed with the change but ive not tried apr. Apr do claim figures higher than everyone else which I do find abit suspicious.
what was the issue on the engine?

Not what the graph shows, perhaps just a **** up...

what was the issue on the engine?

The bottom end went on a '10 Mk2 Cupra. The car had been mapped from new by the dealership (Seat Letchworth). The engine failure happened after about 12,000 miles, which was after only 4,000 miles of ownership. The car got a brand new engine under warranty. I never asked if Revo picked up the bill or not but not my concern...

Maybe, I didn't look at the graph.
Ahh right I see, possibly a one off but I can understand why you wouldn't want to use their maps again. I've never heard of anyone having issue with revo but I suppose that's not to say people don't. You make your choice and run the risks I suppose

Stage2 key points:

Power and torque increases over stock and stage1 throughout the rev-range

Speedlimiter removed

Left foot braking enabled

Performance mode switching; 1) 97 ron 2) 98/99ron 3) Anti-Theft

NOTE: 95ron is not supported

I'm a bit confused, surely you can enable left foot braking in any car by, you know, braking with your left foot?

The car manufactures put a bit of code in the engine map which disables throttle input if the brake pedal is depressed. You can only enable left foot braking by altering that bit of code in the engine map, which is done when the tuner loads on their own map.

Well that's just pants! I really dislike the way cars are so dependant on electronics these days, with a computer telling it that it can't do something which, mechanically, it plainly can. I get that it can be useful in some instances, with 'safety nets' cutting in to prevent mechanical damage, but I think it goes too far sometimes, this brake/throttle thing being a prime example.

It's a safety thing, following on some class action lawsuits in the USA.

There had been a spate of owners/drivers accidently pressing both the accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously and the car lurching into walls/garages/houses/pedestrians etc.

So now, if both pedals are pressed simultaneously, it limits power.

Imagine if the same types of incident had happened 20 years ago. God forbid, the drivers themselves may actually have been held accountable for their own actions!

I'm getting the Revo Stage 2 installed this weekend. I'll let you know how it runs!

So Revo 2 was installed today. Car just pulls and pulls and pulls. It's a bit scary almost haha. This is a ****** fast car now. I mean pin you in your seat fast.

Will dyno next weekend. Give it a bit of time for the tune to adjust. But I'm expecting 220kW atw easy.

Sorry guys. Haven't had a chance to get out there yet. I will be going next weekend (not this one but the next).

Cool, if it's not too much of a request, it would be nice to see your dyno chart after the power run.

The first auto I owned, where I couldn't left brake was a 2001 V6 Vectra, apparently the Audi lawsuits in the USA happened in the late 1980s, the " the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) concluded that the majority of unintended acceleration cases, including all the ones that prompted the 60 Minutes report, were caused by driver error such as confusion of pedals." (Wikipedia)

Just googling for stage two info and pics mainly for any install details - very keen to have this done but been quoted anything between 2 - 5 hours labour charge which as you can imagine is quite a difference.

Anyhow, came across this video - bit of an OMG moment and half expected my monitor to explode whilst watching it :-

That's good to hear ! Are you s/tronic or manual - any clutch slip at all ?

I'm pretty used to my stage 1 map now can't really remember the car being stock.

What are the main advantages you've found over stage 1 and any disadvantages ?

Chees ;o)
