MMI F/W update....

Hi all,

Running 518 FW.
I've accessed green screen, activated NAD on VCDS.
Unzipped files into root on SD card and installed in slot 1.
Under MMI Setup, there is 'system update' but it says can't find anything on SD CARD.

Can anyone help?...so frustrating.

Another ASN member mentioned something about updating through the green screen but I can't see anything - I'd love to get it done tonight/tomorrow

Well, if anyone has same issue, I will help.

To go into engineer mode - press CAR and BACK at sa,e time.

I guess you need VCDS to activate it...

Once into engineer mode, you can update FW from there!
 
MENU plus BACK for update menu. Green menu is to enable NAD mode once at Firmware 770 or above.

does anybody know where to check which part number each car needs?

I've got the MMI touch - factory fitted in my 2012 C7, with this software version:

2016 04 03 204504

Apparently this is the right software?

1: 8R0 906 961 EA (software?)
2: 8R0 060 884 DF ("License Updatemedium")
3: 8R0 051 884DF ("Europa version 2016")
 
apparently "8R0 906 961 EA" needed to be run as a MOST update... in the engineering menu... I did that, it detected the firmware properly, said it would reboot and restart part-way through the install... after a few minutes the MMI shut off (screen recessed into the dash) and after 35minutes, still nothing... I had to turn the car off at that point as absolutely nothing was happening. It had been stuck with the screen refusing to come back out and the DIS saying "initialising system, please wait" for over half an hour. Not "updating" or any sign of any progress.

Any recommendations?
 
Urm that sounds like your MMI is bricked........ :(

When I updated my software the system rebooted several times and the screen opened and closed. It was the last update that left me panicking but I shut it down and it restarted

I used 8R0 906 962 DG for my MMI touch system. My car is a November 2011 and that version took me to K0900

I didn't update the maps
