I had a 04 2.0TDI which had the whistling turbo problem and gearbox/clutch and wiring loom issues. So sold that, and on the lookout for another A3 8P.

I only do 8K miles a year and alot of people have told me to get a petrol. But i have read a few posts stating that the 1.4 mpg is not much different to the 2.0TDI and the diesel gives more punch than the petrol. I have mainly had diesels and love the torque it gives but as im only doing town driving i realise that it would be better to buy a petrol. But i want the power/economy of a diesel.

I want to get a auto/s-tronic and have mainly found 1.4T and 2.0TDIs CR for sale, they are around the same price as each other but thinking in the future the diesel will be easier to sell.

What are your thoughts?

For low mileage and performance why not a 3.2 V6? Won't have to worry about turbo problems either as it hasn't got one haha. Diesels don't like being driven around town so I'd either go for 3.2 or 1.8T based on the engines reputation.

1.4 T would be my choice, easier to upgrade power.
