Hi I might be buying an a5 1.8tfsi for VERY cheap (under £2900) the seller lives in Exeter (4hrs away) and says that she is selling it this price because she just had a divorce and it was her ex husbands car and wants it gone. She says she will only sell through eBayand that the shipping is free as last buyer paid for shipping but cancelled as he didn't have enough money. She said eBay give me 5 days to inspect the car and then decide if I want it not not. Could this be too good to be true????

Got you hook line and sinker mate!!!

Just send the money to me and I will get you a Porsche for that money ;)

The age old saying if it sounds like its too good to be true.....it usually is!!

Personally I would stay away, also if it was her ex husbands and things havent ended amicably, it may not even be her car to sell.

The agreement was the divorce has just come through and the car is now hers. She said the previous buyer failed to pay but charged him for a company toship the car anywhere in UK. Said it has to go through eBay only and in am given 5 days to inspect use and check the car after I receive it before deciding if I want to purchase It or not and if I chose not to the car will be collected and returned to owner. I dunno what to believe??

This is part of an email she sent
Me have a look see what you think?

> The car is already at the shipping company. The shipping is free. Another
> buyer paid for the transport, after he did it, he told me he does not have
> the money to buy the car, that is why is free of charge.
> I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. I'm very
> busy with my job ( I'm a nurse ) so I can't meet you in person,so this is
> the reason why I chose to sell my car over the Internet. According with the
> eBay, you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and
> decide if you want to keep it or not.
> Here is how it will work:
> 1. First of all I will need the following details from you:
> -Full name and shipping address.
> 2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
> 3. After they will process your info, they will send us both more
> information about how we can complete this transaction. They will contact
> you regarding the shipping process and the arrival time.
> 4. eBay will start the shipping process and it will take up to 48 hours for
> you to receive the car. After you receive the car you will have 5 days to
> test, verify and do whatever you need to the car. If you will buy, then I
> will receive the payment through PayPal.
> 5. If you decide not to buy the car, then eBay will ship the car back to me
> (and you won't be charged for this). If you wish to make the transaction,
> please send me the necessary info so that we can proceed. I look forward to
> hear from you

If she is that busy she has a lot of time to draft that lengthy email...

Forget it mate.

Ebay do not get involved in anyway with shipping cars. This is a common scam, you'll end up with no money & no car !!!
As has been said, if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

One of the oldest scams going dude! Never agree to anything like that! Ever!

You really believed it ?

What a scam! I regularly get emails asking me to allow money to be deposited in my account to help with some foreign national who has issues! Needless to say they get diverted direct to spam

A naive girl I was at uni with paid £6,500 for a 13 plate 1 series 120d m-sport! The story was the owner had moved to spain but struggled to sell it as it was RHD so organised a company to bring it back to the UK but didn't want to send it unless she had a buyer. She paid the money and no car turned up. Im not sure whether she got all the money back as she had authorised the payment

scam.........
seen this on a cheap mk1 quattro sport red TT it was in holland and same thing they'd ship it to the UK :asskicking: this was on Pistonheads.....

Then another one where the women was selling a cheap MK2 3.2 TT as part of 'revenge' in a divorce settlement.......:jump: this was on Autotrader..........

Remember if its too good to be true...............
