F1 season 2015

It was pretty boring tbh, but Australia's always going to be one of the more boring races, there aren't really any straights long enough to allow for much overtaking.

I doubt Vettel would have got third if Bottas had raced.

Im not saying a agree with the way F1 is run atm, but for Red Bull to be saying they thinking of pulling out of F1 unless changes are made, they feel its killing the sport to have the same team winning all the time!
Lmao :D

It was sad to see so few cars starting the race, and yes id agree it wasn’t the best race I seen. :lazy:

I don’t think this will be two-horse race this year :no: it will not surprise me if Lewis wins this with 3 or 4 races in hand.
Only chance Nico will have if Lewis gets reliability issues with the car.

Lets hope we will see some racing between Ferrari and Williams and I don’t think Red bull be too far behind.

It's still early days don't panic!
:scared2:

Interesting to see Red Bull saying that F1 is too one sided and is dominated by Mercedes, They weren't saying that when they had a totally dominant car and were winning all the time. I can see the points about reducing the costs of F1. Even Dietrich Mateschitz with all his money can't hope to compete with the resources of a company like Mercedes.
Renault have never made the most powerful reliable engines, However with Neweys design genius they managed to produce cars with significant aero advantages that compensated. However now Mercedes have some very good aero people with the some of the best facilities Christian Horner is saying that wind tunnels should not be used and everyone should use CFD packages.
But so many times in the past I have heard people saying that CFD doesn't always replicate what happens in the real world.
Just look at the Wurth designed Virgin car of 2010 and 2011, It didn't perform at all.
You can't beat experience and ingenuity which is what Red Bull have in Adrian Newey.

Why didn’t Williams let Susie Wolff drive in the Australian GP if Bottas was out? :think:

Something to do with driver's that have not driven on the Saturday cannot drive on the Sunday I believe? It would have been interesting to see her on the grid though...

Thoughts on FIA bringing in equal measures to help equalizing the field on the grid? When Redbull was dominating, it was blown diffusers and flexible wings, but Merc are dominating with the best engine out there! What exactly can the FIA do about that? Tell Mercedes to wind their engines down?

German GP cancelled.

So Alonso's been passed fit to take part in the Malaysian GP! Am I looking forward to the Malaysian GP? Not if only 11 cars cross the chequered flag at the end! But I will be watching it live non the less, in support of the main man Lewis Hamilton! :racer:

Two place grid penalty for Grosjean who jumped the queue and overtaken illegally in the pit exit on his way out.

Yes the fun and games have started!!

..but it didn’t workout this time for Nico
:lmfao:

C'mon Spooky; where else but on the race track are Hamilton and Rosberg going to practice the 'please pass me now' manoeuvres? Several times last year, post Spa, the 'pass' was so poorly executed that questions were being asked by the most experienced of commentators...

Might be a good race tomorrow with a bit of a mess in qualy. But dear oh dear, what Alonso now must be thinking about his move to MClaren.

Its nice to have some competiton at this point in season. Vettel did well. Good race for massa and Bottas in the williams team as well. Red bull didnt have a great day, but they finished, :) x

Alonso on suicide list.

Yes, this! What on earth has gone wrong at McLaren?

Despite both cars not finishing, I think we can see they have more performance today. I think they will be mid table by the end of the season, they will probably be happy to get some points this season.

And how about Torro Rosso finishing ahead of Redbull? How embarrassing is that?

A good race with lots of overtaking, Not sure what Rosberg is playing at this year he seems to have given up trying to compete with Hamilton. Nice to see Ferarri winning, can't wait to see Raikonnen back on the top step.
It seems to me that Mercedes lost the race because Ferrari managed the tyres so much better.
On a track with more normal temperatures Mercedes will be back I am sure.

Yea, Rosberg didn't offer opposition to anyone that might be as quick as him! "so if he passes me he wins?" that's a ridiculously negative question and attitude considering the car he drives, and not the correct thinking of a potential World Champion.

That race certainly put the lie in Red Bull's quest for Mercedes cars to be handicapped - just what was needed IMO.

FORMULA ONE WON Sepang 2015 of that there's no doubt and as a result the global switch-off has stalled for a while and Bernie's a happy man again...

In our house, as Spooky knows, the right-hand chair was and is 100% Hamilton while the left-hand chair was and is 100% Vettel: I sit in the left-hand chair...

My question: how on earth have Ferrari gone from 9th and 10th in Abu Dhabi 2014 to 1st and 4th in Sepang 2015? An amazingly good result for Ferrari and F1! Mercedes will like it too as they are racers at heart and can now see the competition in front as well as behind.

And how fantastic to hear that Italian anthem again...

A great demonstration from of incredible technology played out at a sporting event.

I think it was a good win for Ferrari, and a great win for Vettel who now goes down as winning in a different car to the Red Bull 2010/2013 :sleeping:

…but don't get too comfy in that left-hand chair quite yet! :)

With two races in im still waiting for Vettel to over take anyone! :racer:

Australia he started 4th finished 3rd when he was able to jump ahead of Massa, who when pitting came out into traffic.

Malaysia he started 2nd finished 1st, only after Nico trying to trip Lewis up, lost himself a place on the grid, and Mercedes made the wrong strategy call pitting two cars under safety car, and Vettel staying out.

The right-hand chair knows.. :friends: ...one race don't make a season!! :)

Four World Championships and Vettel still hasn't overtaken anyone; wow...

Just the one then: Vettel / Alonso / Monza / 2012...

Didn't he overtake Webber a few times ...by mistake?

He did too - and if I remember right Webber was none too happy, and more than once...

F1 is about the TEAM; the driver is but one element and the management of drivers as seen post Spa 2014 is a major issue.

A GOOD driver in a CRAP car just isn't going to win a World Championship - as Hamilton has already proven (6-years with McLaren and one World Championship and 2-years with Mercedes and one World Championship).
It's the car...

Go back to the Lotus 72, the first true ground-effect car, and James Hunt saying something like "you can't drive around the outside of me like that" after Andretti just had!

I'd have drivers change teams every 3-years, period.

I'd put a 100% BAN on ANY and ALL radio exchange from today: blimey, even Lewis doesn't want to be told anything mid-corner, 'man' , when he's behind and has now blamed this "confusing radio" for his loss (?)

Engineering in F1 for me is what it's all about, not the driver! I mean: try pulling away from me in my Audi RS3 and you in your A1; it just won't happen...

What I want to know is how Ferrari have gained that performance! How much technical knowledge has Vettel taken to Ferrari from from Red Bull; facinating. Even Raikkonen has improved but Vettel had the edge; now put Alonso's performance against Raikkonen into that equation and think on...

An enthusiastic follower of F1 since 1968, so have seen a few come-and-go, I can say that I am PROUD to be a Schumacher and Vettel fan of long standing and I don't care much if I'm the only one!

Blimey; I was driving a Lotus Elan for 37-years, how crazy is that!

Way too OLD to change, way too old to care...

Schumacher: Well apart from the time he robbed Damon Hill of a Championship by T-boning him with his stricken car (no penalty), and he tried the same thing with Villeneuve the very next year (no penalty), or the time he almost put Barrichello into the pit wall as he tried to pass (no penalty), or the time Benetton were using traction control when it was banned - (which drove Senna to push so hard, he ran off the road) (no penalty), and not to forget the time he parked his red car across the chicane at Monaco after he'd just posted the fastest pole time (Penalised), I think Schumacher was a great driver! but he was a cold, calculating, uncaring individual ..and I disliked him because of it. Schumacher's legacy: Cheats can prosper.

I think the Jury's still out on Vettel's raw talent, and his treatment of Webber shows signs of the same cold & uncaring nature shown by Schumacher! but this can be the year he proves himself! it'll be good to see him muscle his way through a field to third place in a car that isn't 100% dominant.

Engineering, engineering, and engineering: for me there's not a lot of difference in any of the drivers and almost every grid is the same with team cars being 'paired' from front to back irrespective of driver.

Even Mr. Hamilton suggests this in Kevin Eason's report today: “I sat next to Sebastian and thought, ‘What is Fernando thinking?’ ” Hamilton said. “I remember when I left McLaren and came [to Mercedes], we were better the next year. He has almost done the opposite. It could have been him winning in Malaysia. It is just strange how things turn out.”

I mean; at the end of last season 99% were against the 17-year old Max Verstappen taking a seat in the 2015 F1 series and in Sepang he goes and finishes 7th in his second F1 event and in a Toro Roso and in front of the 2-Red Bulls of Kvyat (who was in front of) Ricciardo; and Grosjean (Lotus with a Mercedes engine), Hulkenberg (Force India with a Mercedes engine), etc; not to mention Alonso and Button.

And here's me thinking F1 was boring...

robbed Damon Hill of a Championship

Ahem! I look forward to the day when we can sit and chat about things that are of ZERO importance, Artimus; but for now please go steady affording Damian Hill a halo as his record is not so unblemished as can be found here on Wikipedia:

1) "At the 1998 Canadian Grand Prix however, things began to improve. Hill moved up to second place as others retired or pitted for fuel. On lap 38, Michael Schumacher, delayed by a stop-and-go penalty for forcing Frentzen's Williams off the track, caught Hill on the home straight; Hill moved across the track three times to block Schumacher, who missed his braking point and ran over the kerbs at the chicane to take the place. Damon Hill won the World Championship"

2) And at the 1998 Spa Grand Prix: The race ran entirely in extremely wet weather, and on the first lap David Coulthard lost control of his McLaren, causing a multiple collision involving thirteen drivers, which led to the race being stopped. After a delay of more than an hour to clear the track, a second attempt was made to start the race, albeit without four of the drivers involved in the incident. At the restart, championship leader and pole-sitter Mika Häkkinen spun his McLaren at the first corner and was hit by the Sauber of Johnny Herbert, forcing them both to retire from the race. Hill took the lead, but was overtaken on lap eight by Michael Schumacher.

Schumacher had built up over 30 seconds of advantage over Hill by lap 24 when he came up to lap Coulthard. After being instructed over the team radio to let him past, Coulthard slowed down but stayed on the main racing line; due to the spray behind Coulthard Schumacher was unsighted, hit the back of the McLaren, and caused terminal damage to his Ferrari.

Coulthard initially retired due to damage on his own car, but eventually rejoined the race and finished seventh.

Hill then inherited the lead again, with his Jordan team-mate Ralf Schumacher behind him.

In the latter stages of the race, the younger Schumacher was catching Hill. Initially the team informed Hill about his team-mate's pace and implied he should let him past. Hill, however, stated clearly that he would not step down, telling team owner Eddie Jordan they either race for first place and risk ending up with nothing, implying a collision, or hold positions and bring the team a 1–2 finish.

Team orders were ultimately issued, requiring both drivers to hold their positions to the finish.

Hill brought home the first F1 win for the Jordan team after 126 starts, bringing his own win tally to 22. It would turn out to be his last F1 win."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The BIG problem with getting old is that the memory still lingers, some...
Now where was I? :racer:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

PS: I seem to remember that Coulthard was on his second 'blue' flagged lap when he 'lifted' and it then took him 15-years to admit (after the in-car telemetry was released) that he did it deliberately...

I can't see Nico winning unless Hamilton has an issue. After the race he only seems to see Ferrari as a possible threat. Rosberg to me doesn't seem to be able to match Hamilton this year, I don't know if Hamilton has stepped his game up a bit or Rosberg has gone backwards a bit.
