Auto Dim rear view mirror removal process

Hi All, I would like to take of my Rear view mirror and paint it black.
Its currently in cream and stands out like a sore thumb when you are looking at the car from the front.

To remove the mirror is it the same process as in this video?


A3 2004 2.0TDI SE

Any one done this before?

Thank you, has anyone ever painted theirs black?
What sort of paint would be best to use?

Kolorbond.

But I did a roof light with just a satin black enamel.
