Please HELP!!

I would look carefully at the camshaft, even though is looking nice, clean with no pitting- using cheap oils will eat the cam lobes where it pushes onto the lifters- you will see they are out of shape . Best to put car in high gear and push it, the engine should turn and reveal the shape of cam lobes...

Injector wiring looms will came up with misfire on that particular cylinder and would not effect the running from cold- bad glow plugs and funked cams will !

cars back...feels smoother but think thats the oil...1st start in the am will tell. not holding out much hope.
they broke my old loom too, hhmmmmmm i shall still be testing it though.

he said when he started it cold it sounded like was firing on 3. starting to get really annoyed with it now.

looks like 2 and 3 are the culprits.

Actually watching it again something very weird is going on because 3 &4 are pretty much exact mirror opposites of 1 & 2 :uhm:

what do you reckon it is? i removed the big boost pipe today checked there work ect, noticed my rear coolant hose is swollen like mad.so i think my tandem is leaking...and its the back plate so new pump and hose. its a LUK one with a black plate on.

could this be my problem?

ive clamped the fuel hose from tandem to filter.have i got the right one?

got gold tarnish all over back of engine and gearbox so looks like its been leaking a while.

After having a similar problem today on an a4 1.9 tdi and using vcds , id say your injectors are ok mate , pretty good actually , they are well within range.

If the hose is swollen it needs changing then make sure it does not swell again.

You really should put the clear pipe from the filter to the pump, best way to discount an air leak.

If its not the injectors, would an air leak cause my problem?

ive had enough today lol, been rebuilding a compressor :tapedshut:

ive cleaned the area,so will monitor it see if it becomes wet again.

could one be loose and need reseating? new bolts? put £50 in other day got 100 miles left in tank done 276.

Yes air leak will cause bad starting, once the car has been started it will have bled the air out so will be ok till its left for a while, put some clear pipe on and look for Michael Jacksons Monkey.(<------ cryptic)

Its the fuel in one but i cant remember which one it is , goes from filter to pump, i cant see it mate so its difficult for me to say.

clamped that hose and it started ok,unless it was a fluke. weathers been warm today

what could it be the tandem not holding pressure overnight?

If it has an air leak the air leaks in to the fuel system and collects in one big bubble , this then prevents any fuel from reaching the pump and the system has to bleed itself before the car can start , hence the reason they take lots of cranking when cold or left for sometime.

nope sadly still does it,might get the garage to put a new gasket in,failing that, new tandem. failing that injector seals failing that camshaft. failing that box of matches and gallon of petrol lol

Is anyone willing to have a look for me as its driving me mad.id love another persons opinion before i spend anymore

Almost everything!

Tandem Pump
Fuel Filter
Injectors ultrasonically cleaned and new seals
New Injector Loom
Cam Shaft and Lobes etc

Didn't do -
New Battery (commonly mentioned but my battery was measured as fine - red herring)
Lift Pump?

Same course im going along then.

did they measure the bores of the injectors?

whats your mileage? im 90k

Mileage was 150k when i sold it but had been doing it since 90k in terms of the rough starting. Worse in the winter when cold and fuel thicker, so almost an glow plug issue but replaced those as well with bosch items, and increased the glow period, no change. Still did it without the glow plugs in operation.

No didn't measure of the bores of the injectors as far as I'm aware.

I'll have a look, will pm you.

have you got any vcds records, maybe to compare and this sorted,as its a big problem with the pd's.just checked my timing and its 1.7 so within spec
