Hello...

Just basically looking at all the options out there for a brake upgrade..

I know the obvious Rs3/TTRS with the ttrs disc mod, but they're like hens teeth and at ridiculous prices some of them..

So started looking at some Porsche 4 pot brembos.. Are these not practically the same thing and all just pretty much need brackets and then 365mm discs?

Excuse my ignorance, I am a complete noob when it comes to brakes and only know the basics.. As to why i'm asking you fine people.. There must be more options out there though surely?

6 Pot yellow speed racing ;) 1100 for front kit ?

I would be interested in a caliper that works with the oem S3 disc. Must be a Porsche caliper that would fit with a proper adapter.

You can fit the RS3/TTRS caliper with the OE 340mm TTS disc (which is a good chunk lighter than the 345 S3 one) with just a caliper bracket kit from Alex at AKS Tuning.

Jack, that's what Graeme's running, ask him how he's getting on with that setup?

Please explain more. Any pics of this setup? I checked AKS Tuning website but no info

I was looking at the Porsche calipers.. The 911/996 calipers.. They are quite expensive aswell.. But theres the Boxter S 4 pots kicking around too.. I've just not got a clue what discs and that get used with what calipers and having to get carriers made up.. Bit of a sore head, but i'm sure someone who knows brakes would find more options across the vag range than just the Rs3/TTrs calipers..

Seem to be more porsche calipers up for grabs

I'd read that 1 at the top Keith.. Found a pair of calipers for £350.. Could do with a nice refresh paint job tho.. Its the carriers and what discs to go for after that tho.. I seen the brembo kit too.. Duno just to change the discs and pads and run the braided lines with the different fluid to test..

Took Alexs car out for a wee while yesterday and knew it was gona be a bad idea...!

Just feels a lot more solid.. Between the better brakes and the coils

i was going for the RS3 setup but you talked me out of it and i was getting the calipers for 350 back then, I cant justify going above the r32/s3 setups as i dont track but i was going to look at diff discs and pads with braided lines instead of oem

Yes a Porsche setup would be gray on the s3 discs.

I've heard that the evo 9 brembo calipers are the same as the rs calipers anyone confirm ?

The posche setup Alex has is nice.. Kinda has the same initial bite, but where the S3 brakes would fade these kept on biting.. I feel the S3 brakes fade really quickly.. Theres the Brembo pad and disc set available for £180.. I know I wan't better brakes but don't know if that setup will be £180 down the pan..

I have the rs calipers and I got the 340 mm kit from aks best thing to do is call them up or ping alex Kerr a message jack on the road the brakes are awsum need to try them on the track tho see how well they cope I get a slight squeak but that's down to me not using them hard enough, good thing with the dosks there ebc and only cost 200 odds to replace so not major expense when u need to replace them

Thats no bad Graeme... Need to find a place that could supply me with carriers and I might just get that porsche setup.. Alex is running a 345mm disc in his.. But surely get away with a 340mm surely

Alex can Prob make u carriers and would be able to tell u what disk size u would need etc to make them all fit, why you wanting brakes? Thinking of more power

Guys. One thing.
The BMW performance 6pot brake caliper from the 1serie and 3serie is used on a 345x28mm disc. This with the proper adapter would be a great looking kit.
I personally think the calipers also look nice besides the BMW logo that can be easily removed with a heat resistant sticker of other sort.
I don't know the piston diameter or the quality of this part/combination.

Any thoughts?

I'm not too sure.. Far from a brakes expert.. Hopefully someone will come on, tell me off for being a noob and hit us with some interesting facts...

Na the brakes are hardly good enough for the power i've got the now.. Nearly missed a couple junctions cause of them ha.. N thats not with me braking late... The fade is terrible.. Although I did find the 4 pots don't give anymore bite really, just last longer and gives more confidence to chuck it..
