What 's your job

I'm a Production Supervisor on Oil and Gas facilities overseas.

Been in Nigeria for over 4.5 years, just been in Burma for 24 days and heading off to Bangladesh for 6 weeks and then to Mexico and Brazil.

Sounds nice & warm Tom, back in the late 80's I was involved in the off shore game but out of Lowestoft, the furthest I ever got was a platform called BP Bruce - luckily I only went out on calm days.

I was offshore for a spell. Worked as a data engineer (posh expression for a mudlogger!). My last few months were spent on the Britannia gas platform off Aberdeen. Miss some bits of the job but not being away from home for half the year /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

Was a Precision Mechanical Engineer working for Molins...

Moved on to AutoCAD, ProE and IT for a small local Water Solutions Systems company...

Now I'm doing a degree in Automotive and Motorsport Engineering and Design!

So I suppose I fall into the job catergory of:

Tax-dodging Waster?

OK, hi there! wonder if anyone else on site is a member? I suppose the dreaded car stickers come in here or another mailer list..

Hi Carlo, I have no idea - there might be one or two but they haven't made themselves known!

I have audi-sport.net in my S3 - keep an eye out for it in the carpark!!!!

Network Administrator and support.

More into the infrastructuring and hardcore networking stuff now.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Only 21, so need to keep it up, so I can afford my 996 Turbo /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cheers

Neal.

After a few years serving Queen and country as a helicopter pilot in the Fleet Air Arm I'm now looking after 'Englands most dangerous' in Durhams maximum security prison. Thats why I need an S3.........to relax and de-stress.

Bit dangerous letting a WAFU

a) Look after "Englands most dangerous"
b) Letting them on this board /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

PS - if you click "I want to preview my post and/or add an image" and add the pic's that way (rather than using IMG tags), the picture should resize to fit the window....

Hmmm been a while since I've been called a WAFU.
Hopefully I'll be allowed to stay on this board, with your permission of course. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

It's good to see the senior service well represented and I'll try not to break my S3 as much as I did the Lynx....
"Carry on".

Hey Lewy, think that's a bit harsh, not all of the aircraft are crap and the pay isn't that bad considering the benefits of being in the forces........and it also depends on your job within the RAF!

If my memory serves me correctly the real work started once you docked at harbour. Oh yes, forgot the FAA had flown off before then so they could

a) avoid the hard work
b) avoid displaying a poor performance on harbour night /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I loved my time in the forces, but the pay and benefits were crap IMHO. OK I was non commisioned and not on flying pay, but to earn close to what I expect as a civilian salary is nigh on impossible even as an officer.

My recomedation would be for lots of young people to join up and have a good time, but get out with your sanity in tact /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I used to fly Lynx helicopters for the Navy but not any more, flew with a few 'crabs' during my training at Linton-on-ouse and Topcliffe. I only fly very boring cessna's occasionally so I have to resort to getting my kicks from reasonably fast cars.

But there are far worse civvy jobs.........would agree with you get in have a good time then get out. One thing that i would say is better generally is training in comparrison to civilian life, which is quite often non-exsistent!

Hey I tell you what is crap about the forces - going to war. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/fuck_you.gif

See you in 6 months!!!

It depends which arm of the forces you're in, if you're RAF regiment, Infantry or Marines then you've looked forward to getting shot all of your life /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh_roll.gif

IT (again) - testing broadband. I'm back in Ipswich (again). Therefore I'm looking forward to those meets.

I got recruited back to BT in Ipswich after got made redundant last December. I knew they'll start looking for me again after making that bad move! A bit daft really, BT only saved a few grand by making me redundant!

Guess what... IT!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked2.gif

Working for a large American IT company looking after remote servers and networks all around the world, which is fun when everyone is asleep when you want to talk to them. We also act as a helpdesk for oher companies helpdesks, a sort of 4th line support. Mainly end up spending most of my day on Audisport courtesy of a nice T1 connection.

Used to be a Nationwide Hardware field engineer but got fed up of driving round trips from Liverpool to London via Bristol everyday... and in a huuuuge van. Decided to go the software route as better money and you get to have a comfy seat. I haven't started wearing red shirts with yellow ties yet though like the UNIX guys here... only a matter of time I suspect /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
