Sorry if this ahs been asked, but I couldn't see it in my quick search...

Is the Audi Ipod adapter just the denison in disguise? Is there any difference between the two?

This is to interface with my Concert II so are there any issues with this combination?

Cheers
Mark

nobody's certain for sure. The only differences i can see is that the dension logo has been swapped for an audi one... but that's just from pictures, as i've never seen an audi one for real. If i had to choose again now, i'd choose the audi one.

The Audi adapter does not come with a cradle, and does not allow you to control the iPod from the click-wheel. The click-wheel is locked, and control of the iPod is solely from the HU controls. The iPod is then hidden away out of sight. Here's the thread I posted when I fitted mine, which was also connected to a Concert II like yours:

It might not happen with yours. It could be a one-off ricket on mine.

i dont like the idea of not being able to control the ipod using the normal click wheel.

id just want a solution so i can connect the ipod into a line in but still retain all the usual functions of the ipod.

jdp1962... you had put an extra http.com on the front of that link somehow!?!?!

also.. you say its too quiet.. can you not adjust the ipod volume. i normally have my ipod at half volume when using my humble tape adapter and its the same level as cd or radio then.

You can use the clickwheel and ipod UI by selecting CD6 on the HU when using a dension, it has the benefit of being able to use as many playlists as you want then. Plus you can skip music really quickly, rather than the laggy method of using the CD changer controls.

As for the music volume, you can enter the setup menu on the dension to alter the output level of the ipod to make it much louder.

Yeah, I realised what I'd done with the link afterwards. From what you're saying, I think you're more likely to want a Dension-Link with a cradle, as that will allow you to maintain full control of the iPod on the click-wheel. Downside is that it's on view, so you have to remove it every time you leave the car.

Got the Audi Adapter installed last night and all is working well so far. I havn't got any playlists on my ipod yet so am only using CDC6 which appears to play whatever I was listening to before I connected it, which i fine.

Only problem so far is that there is a High pitched whine some of the time while the iPod is plugged in. Has anyone else found this? Does it have anything to do with it charging and playing at the same time?

Cheers

I have the early Dension iPod adapter in my S3 (cant select playlists using the CD buttons). I too have some noise when the engine is on and there is a quiet part in a track. I put this down to possible the position of the adaptor behind the glovebox or the cheap unscreened wiring in the wiring harness.

Regards, John.

Does anyone know if the new iPod adaptor available as factory fit on the latest cars lets you see track listings on the DIS or Sat Nav unit? I asked a dealer and he said "oh yes" but until I see it with my own eyes or read about it here....

Regards, John.

more like "oh yes" - oh hang on sir - "oh no".... nothing does as the RNS-D Navi plus doesnt support CD text, so it wont display anything other than cd1-6 track 1-99. The RNS-E does, but as that already has an mp3 interface through SD cards, i have never heard of anybody trying it. The only question mark atm is using a symphony 3....

as for the whine, have a search around earthing problems. Seem to remember something about that for some reason.
