Do wheels really benefit from having a sealant applied to them ? I collect my new A3 sline soon and was wondering what the gains are from doing this . If you wash your car weekly is it worth it cause the wheels will clean after ?
I was looking at buying some finish kare 1000p but no so sure now unless there are real benefits to be gained from it .You can probably tell im a beginner at this so apologise if my question sounds a bit daft .

I think it does... especially with the heavy braking I do with the Audis...they seem to generate a lot of manky brake dust...:audibash:

Allows the wheels to be cleaned with just the normal car shampoo, rather than more toxic/harmful cleaners...

I normally put 2 coats of sealant on at the start of the 'season' (I run summer/winter alloys) and that'll last me until I need to use them the next year.

It's as important as applying a wax or sealant to the paintwork.

Be thorough with cleaning the wheels (tar remover, iron decontaminate, claying, polish) then apply two coats of FK 1000p.

yeah good point, the wheels need to be very, very clean!

FK1000P is great on wheels.... well it's great everywhere, but good you can use it on wheels and bodywork...

I currently use definitive wheel wax (Rotundus)

Sometimes I'll use Ceramishield ceramic coating, although I think my bottles are a bit too old as it seems to fail sooner than later these days....

Yes it's important means when they get dirty you can just wash the muck off with virtually 0 effort

Wash
De tar
De iron
Clay
Wash
Seal

Yeah I use Collinite 845 on mine, easy to use and lasts a good few months.

Might try some of that FK1000P soon though.

I previously used Angelwax wheel wax.
Iv just tried out g techniq c5 on my rotors and I can't praise it enough.
Very good beading and comes up sparkling with just a pressure wash

remember you can use it on your paintwork and stainless steel too....

the tin should last for ages.. lol

a couple of hints from me is to use a dampish applicator pad, and spread the FK thinly.... very very thinly...

so thin that you should hardly see it on your work area....

I used to put my applicator in the tin and give it a light quarter turn..... and use it thinly.....

honestly.... can't stress that enough... most people that don't get on with this product seem to stick it on like a slutty zcelebs make up when she's going out for a night out.... there's no need for that...

I've have been impressed with Dodo Red mist Tropical. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/dodo-juice/dodo-juice-red-mist-tropical-250ml/prod_540.html

Strictly speaking it is quick detailer with sealant properties. I don't do heavy miles and my wheels are washed as delicately as possible just using body shampoo.

After the wheels are washed I give the wheels a couple of sprays of this, buff and stand back to be wowwed. It adds a really nice gloss, slick look to the 8V S3 wheels while offering fantastic beading quality. A jet wash off the wheels takes 95% of brake dust off.

Not sure now it would last between washes without re-application. However, I find the trade off more than acceptable for delicious looking wheels. Adds 5 minutes to my regime.
