Judderman's A4 Tfsi Progress Thread

Been a while since I updated (or did anything to the car other than oil change and MOT) had lots of things to buy and pay out over the winter so the car hasn't had any goodies. The MOT just needed a tyre and bootlid latch.

I fitted the carbon fibre vinyl wrap today. Looks OK, some rough edges and have tonnes left so will do these again. I wanted to see if I could get away with it once fitted but some corners are noticeable....never been good at wrapping Xmas presents and doing this is similar....For refernece, I bought the 3D carbon vinyl from eBay which has tiny air holes in it to help remove bubbles. Just the corners I struggled with, I'm not very good at that sort of thing. Lemme know what you think...better than the wood trim under it (pic). Just need to do the ashtrays and gearstick surround, will probably aim to do those in situ as I don't want to remove yet more of the dash to get to them, plus using a credit card you can smooth off the edges and stick em down in the gap and I 'think' it should work just as well, I didn't see much benefit of taking the pieces off apart from I could do them in the house.

How do you take the piece of dash off that goes around the light switch on the right-hand side of the steering wheel? I can't figure it out nor see any bolts....

Still not remapped, but have decided on Rick Unicorn Developments OBD thing. Removed the decat for the MOT and didn't replace it. Not sure why as I really liked it but just changed my mind and wanted a less ostentatious noise when driving around. Think I'm older than I really am...Still need wheels and tyres, thinking about A5 or RS4/Sline wheels and some Eibach springs as it looks like it's on stilts.

making good progress then, looks good to me.
When i make a final descision on my tfsi and its to stay with it i may also look into the "Rick Unicorn Developments OBD thing", just sitting on the fence at the moment seeing how things pan out for a few weeks.
keep up the good work mate.

Yeah Rob, I'm the same. I've been toying with chopping it in and getting an S4 (b6 or b5) or an All-Road B5, or a bunch of other cars but TBH my insurance has just gone down and I haven't finished with the A4 yet, not at least until I've seen what it's like when remapped. I'll decide after then. It wa sunny as well today....always looks nicer in the sun, making me want to keep it.

Doh, the massive 15c temp yesterday made the edges peel from my 'carbon' interior. Going have to redo some of them.

Not making a sale thread here just asking some advice really, as I've had the car up for sale on eBay for months now, still not shifting. Need something smaller for my wife to drive (booo!) as she's finally getting round to doing her test. Any reason why it wouldn't sell? It's priced at £2600ish which is what I paid for it - it has been up for 4k and progressively downwards, I appreciate that a new buyer shouldn't have to absorb my engine failure costs, so it's priced at the very low end of the market unfortunately. Maybe the recon engine is off-putting although I don't see why? It's done 8-9k on new engine now and feels good. If I was in the market I'd buy it with a recon engine as it's been refreshed compared to the ticking timebomb TFSIs that haven't had oil pump etc replaced.

I think it just the used car market chap, not helped by the time of the year now, buyers are not as keen to buy used cars near christmas, but that said it is probably the best time to buy one as they can be had for a lot less than other times of the year.
I'd stick with it , you may need to try and market it in a different way, try and give it some added selling points etc.
good luck with chap.

Cheers Rob...it's been on eBay since May, though.. Maybe I'm crap at eBay. I should have stuck on ATrader but thought that it would sell on eBay costing £15 in fees, as £50 for Autotrader is kind of a put off. Anyway, will have to just see what happens. I'd rather keep it but don't want to have to be paying for two cars as wifey doesn't work.

also the situation is not made any better due to the amount of used audi's for sale and not just a4's, take a look at many of the selling points and there are so many for sale, its so very difficult to make that sale with so many on the used market in so many varying levels of spec, unless you are offering a very special or super immaculate example of an A4 and even then its needs to be priced right, it's going to be a challenge chap.
just stick with it.
