Im looking to lower my a3 by about 50mm, I've never had a lowered car is it going to be a pain in the **** scraping over every speed hump and bottom out on uneven road. Don't want to have to drive 20mph everywhere

no problems at all unless on aftermarket wheels with weird offset

I have 18x8.5j et45 with 225/40 r18 tyres. Should be ok?

Im looking to buy some ap coilovers from you when i get the funds together.

If you've never had a lowered car do you at least have experience of what coilovers feel like?

The only reason I ask you that is because they can be quite stiff and that may be a shock to you (no pun intended) if you've never experienced what they feel like.

Maybe also ask Damian @DPM some options on spring/damper setup too?

I've been in a mates car that was low, I think he was on 50mm springs but it was all right i know coilovers will be harder but it Wasn't much harder than my s line setup. The problem I have is my car being quattro. For some reason the lowest spring are 35mm and apparently s3 stuff wont fit, i think they go lower on the s3

Got the same setup on mine, apart from a few rubs there's no issue. Mines all the way down on AP's you've just gotta be careful that's all. Would be no issue if it was higher but that's the beauty of coilovers you can choose where you want it to sit.

Not so sure about that.
I had H&R springs fitted and they are the same part no. for A3 quattro and S3.
I have KW clubsport coilovers fitted now and they are the same part no. for A3 quattro and S3 as well

I did think the surely VAG wouldn't have designed a rear set up specifically for the a3 quattro. Im sure i looked up ap's for both and the part numbers where different

Smurfworth how do you find the ride compared to stock?

Thats what I thought tbh but then I saw that and thought it must be different

its better than s3 suspension, doesn't crash and wallow about, its stiffer but thats expected. must have had them for around 15k now, its useable daily, just the interior rattles that do your head in

I'm on 50mm H&R and find I have problems with the undertray scraping on the single road humps. This usually happens if I try to line the car up in centre of the hump as most would do. I take most at an angle now much to the annoyance of other drivers who want to speed through. Even worse if there are passengers in the car. I'm considering 30 or 35 mm now. This is in and around South London.

Yep me too, which is why I changed to coilovers!
