Well I've ordered my s line , just wish the alloys were not diamond cut , currently got an X1 with blade aloys they were refurbished 18 months ago and now look like there ruined ,
Not much choice when choosing my sline in alloys

How are they ruined? What effects them?
I have an Sline with diamond cut alloys, perfect still after 2 months...

Well my X1 is a ten plate and when I got my car they were refurbished so maybe after the first refurb they don't last as long if you get me

Not keen for that, at all! Have all four gone like that?
Let's hope Audi have have developed their method of cutting these alloys eh! Maybe some one on here can spread some light on additional protection to avoid this?

Looks like moisture has got under the lacquer, this then turns it milky white. The factory finish is likely better than any repair would be, so less likely to get this on original un-damaged/repaired alloys

Hopefully the factory finish is better I think it will be and last alot longer

That's just from a sh1t repair job. Water has got under the lacquer.

Diamond cut alloys are a ****** to maintain. Had them on my previous BMW and S3 before getting them powder coated. The nature of diamond cut alloys means that due to the highly polished surface there isn't much for the lacquer to hold to. A bit of kerb damage or even just a stone chip will allow water to get in under the lacquer and cause the cloudy surface. Personally I would get diamond cut alloys powder coated at the first opportunity and then just forget about it.

The car is out of warranty , but if there's any chance I will

Its about the shocking service youve received doesnt matter if its in warranty, you paid for the refurbs, should be a guarantee, if they are using shoddy smart repairers then BMW UK are not gonna be happy about it.

I didn't get the alloys repaired my self when I bought the car 18 months ago from bmw the wheels were mint they must of been refurbed just b4 collection the car had only 12 month warranty ,

Just got the name and number of the guy they use at my local main dealer, booked in at my house for Monday, will let you know how it goes

Cheaper than main dealer and better for him too, as long as the jobs to the same standard and nothing goes wrong then all is good

Fingers crossed !

Think he means hubs (hubba hubba)

So you have powder coated and done a colour change.
Yeah I knew what he meant, unfortunately I managed a very slight kerb to one of mine last week so I am going to contact the main dealer on monday to see who they use...

Expect nearly £80 main dealer, £50 if you get it done by the same guy at your house !

Obviously you get a fancy receipt and maybe a smile if youre lucky plus as much coffee and biscuits as you can stomach at the stealers !

Thats cheaper than I thought, I just hope that it can be done on the car outside my house or school. Probably dreaming about that one...

that diamond polish repair is just poor. Nothing else to it.

Diamond polish finish requires the material to be removed back until the marks are gone, you can only repair diamond polished wheels around twice in their lifetime. Your alternative is to fill smooth and then paint / powder coat like they are done on non diamond coated wheels.

So no need to dislike diamond polished rims, you can have them treated like normal wheels if you are happy to forgo the diamond finish.

So £30+ worth of coffee and biscuits to break even? Challenge accepted! :D

They do look rather nice but I would miss the cut lip for now.

Expensive to do or not too bad?

£180 for the 4 included : -

Tyres removed from wheels
Valves and weights removed from wheels
Wheels inspected for buckles / flat spots and cracks
Wheels chemically stripped to remove old paint finishes
Repair any scuff damage on wheels
Wheels media blasted to clean and profile the metal
Powder coat prime, paint and powder coat lacquer
Tyres re-fitted to wheels using new valves
Wheels balanced and are ready to be put back on car

I presume they are going to bake the wheels at some point? Otherwise its just painted and not as tough. Price looks a bit too cheap IMO.

Well I had a quote back from my dealership and they've said standard finish alloy wheels the price will be £85, if the wheels have a specialised finish the price will be £150. No prizes for guessing what wheels I have got...

Yup, dealer has confirmed £150, I could buy a new wheel for my Ford at that price...

Thats about right

Its dangerous to know someone who can come to your house and repair your lightly curbed rim of a diamond cut alloy in 45 minutes

@ £50

he did another one with a very small mark on it at the same time for free

Great result exactly as they would have done at Audi local dealer

He told me the last job he did at Audi was on an S3 with the same wheels but they were a mess and he had to change the wheel totally to grey.

So if its light marks they can be done.
