Umm hope this is allowed as its not a for sale thread but I can't sell my TQS despite trying for months, I'm not exactly asking a lot for it either! Anyway I'm now sick of the sight of it, is it likely to be worth breaking it? Totally standard only thing of note is the Votex body kit and an S4 steering wheel!
Cheers all

Its a merlin purple Avant on 140k, mot til oct and I've been asking 1300. I thought that was relatively acceptable :(

Hmm do i upgrade to an avant and swap the bits from mine to this ??

You got any pics ?

Yes 99' TQS saloon as per my sig !!
o_O hmm yea see that now.... ill go back to spec savers.......

still reckon the Avant would be worth the upgrade though... but then im biased as I don't really like the style of the saloon I think the Avant's are a lot nicer..
but then I think the estate versions of a lot of cars are nicer looking than the saloon's

I think the opposite. Saloon ftw

Funny you say that as I'm of the same opinion. I'd rather have the RS4/RS6 Avant over it's saloon equivalents. I'm not saying the saloons are 'ugly' cars I just prefer the presence of the Avant as it's more understated yet surprising at the same time! Plus the body shape flows better imo.

Avant all the way

Sorry guys I have tried several times to upload pictures but I'm struggling, keeps telling me the files are to big despite being merely phone pics, I'll try a different way or just email them to JBH :)

i think you'll struggle to make £1300 breaking a completely standard car. It'll also take a huge amount of time and effort, and requires somewhere to store all the parts and deal with all the buyers etc. You also end up left with the shell and a pile of parts no-one wants and quite possibly will have to pay to have it removed depending what the scrappers are like in your area.

I broke a standard PFL 2.8 Quattro and broke even, but i only paid 600quid for the car, and that had S4 wheels and an RS4 grille which sold for decent money. It made sense for me because i needed a gearbox and couldnt find one anywhere, so i bought the whole car and the gearbox ended up free. If your willing to hang about waiting for the right buyer to come along for the bigger parts you might get a bit more, but for instance i sold the interior for about 60quid, becuase i just shoved it on ebay with a 99p start and let it run. I could have put up an advert for 100 or 150 and waited around for weeks/months, but i wanted the car and its parts gone ASAP.

the other issue, is the money comes in in dribs and drabs, and as a result ends up getting frittered away, whereas if you get 950quid in one lump you tend to do something purposeful with it.

IMO you need to just stick it on ebay with no reserve and a 99p starting bid. If it sells for a grand rather than the 1300 you want then so be it, at least its gone in one chunk.

Thanks Kev, I know that makes sense and I haven't really got the time to break but I would have done if it was worth it. Thinking of breaking my s3 but I know that's worth it! Looks like I'll give her a good clean and stick it on ebay again :(
Cheers for the advice/ car appreciation!

That is lovely looking and I like the colour too! Hope you get it sorted. It seems like there is a fair bit of interest now for you ;)

Bradderz, do it!

If I could modify this to be faster I would keep it. However the ecu is impossible to flash, so got an mapped agu ecu to fit, had it coded but wouldn't work. There isn't much in the way of worthwhile off the shelf aftermarket mods so everything is custom but worst of all theres very few people capable of mapping it even if you did go nuts. Ideally I would keep it, tfsi or gt28 it and have a car that would be a keeper! I have been offered an S4 avant for a sensible price but not sure on it yet.

Your not trying hard enough :p

My track cars running an AGU ECU without issue. Few folk on here have even fully converted the car to run the same ME7.5 ECU that the S3 etc uses.

I did take the ecu to a highly reputable VAG specialist who recoded the agu ecu immob code to work in my AJL however whilst it all responded the car wouldn't start. I have tried! Cars, meh :(

Yeh mine did the same. So i just disabled the IMMO.

and with the immo defeat it all worked? If she won't sell I might just get that done and fit the mapped ecu, I've spoken to Dan previously about a hybrid so if I'm stuck with it that'll be the way to go.
