I know it's been covered a lot, and that to fit the brakes you need ttrs discs, but after reading about on some sites, the ttrs discs seem to be prone to warping easily.
A lot of people are fitting them to golfs, using a custom bracket from AKS Motorsport. This enables you to use 340mm TTS discs, or 362mm AP discs, which seemingly have a better reputation.
Now my main question is about the fitting of the normal S3 alloys. I remember reading that they don't work with the RS3 brakes. Is that due to them catching on the back of the spokes, and does anyone know if this may be better with the custom brackets and TTS discs?
I run 10mm spacers on the front anyway. Would this help?

I have the rs calipers with aks tunings fitting kit which alloys me to have the 340mm disks I think u can get standard wheels over the calipers but think u need 12mm spacer I may be wrong I've got new wheels on with 5mm spacers and have good clearance

gotta ask another question? Quoting MKB

I can understand you wanting the RS3 front discs if you want the look, they do look good being 370mm and all.

I've spent quite a bit of cash on brakes over the past few years and if its braking performance you are after I think you can do better with aftermarket upgrades. The RS3 discs aren't that special, the metal hub heats up quickly and they fade quickly on track. After a day of track use they were warped. The 'holes' fill up badly with brake dust too and as a result they tend to glaze the pad.

If it was my money I'd rather buy something like the AP set up with proper grooved floating rotor discs on ceramic hubs - much better heat and pad material dissipation.

They are pricey of course and there are many other good options, EBC, Brembo, Performance Friction etc out there at every price level. Match the weight and power of your car to the disc and pad and you will be amazed how good the stopping power is.

Just my thoughts and as I say I can understand people wanting the look of the RS3 disc but for braking performance there are better.

Is this accurate? Are RS3 brakes really better than S3 brakes with say upgraded pads? Do they really stop sooner than standard S3 brakes? Go? versus show?

I had standard s3 brakes with brembo pads they didn't last long at all, I've just fitted rs3 calipers and ebc 340mm disks with pagid rs4-2 pads ebc disks on rear wth red stuff pads. Road use they are a lot better, great pedal feel and not had any problems yet, I am going to get a track tuition day at knockhill soon which uses my own car so time will tell how good they are so I can't comment on that part yet, as for price they ain't as cheap as thet first seem time I got calipers, painted them, fitting kit, new rear pads and disks, spent quite a bit. There are a few aftermarket kits out there that are not as expensive prob around £1200. mark Brodie owns brotek is dealing with yellow stuff for a good price there is also k sport etc that the ford guys rave about. But if your going for the proper kits like ap, vw racing and that your up to £2500 / £3000 but I suppose with brakes you want the best your gonna pay for it I could not warrant spending the money as I don't do any track days really and the kit I have Is more than good enough for me :)
