How the hell do you remove plastic trim from the internal of the boot, trying to get at the wiper motor. Removed the two screws but that's as far as I got. Help !!!

Pull it off, have a weetabix first, or start prying the edges

Tried that mate but doesn't seem to want to come off, is it only two screws holding it there ?

You need to pull downwards VERY FIRMLY on the boot liner. If it's a Sportback, remove the two plastic cover plates that are there to replace bulbs and jerk downwards.

There are about 6 plastic clips that hold the liner to the boot lid . They will come loose but they are very firm and you will think it won't come off.

IT WILL !!!!

Ok, thanks. Will give it another go tomorrow. Thanks ;-)

Once one connector pops off the rest usually come easy. But it's more a measured force, don't just rip it off or you'll likely tear some plastic connectors. Start at a top corner.

Ive been at this for an hour and the trim doesn't want to give! even snapped a metal dinner knife while prying it after I managed to get a few mill of room! Im just gonna drive with the warning light on and (half a knife rattling about) til I can get another set of hands to help me. what a ball ache

Hi,
after removing two screws you just need to pull VERY firmly, i got my friend to help ( and we are both not the weakest) Its really in there.

start in one corner and work your way round if you are alone. if there is two of you pull opposite sides at the same time. I thought my elbow will snap they are that strong.

Just pull down strongly and fast with the boot grap handle section.

The worst that can happen is the metal clips come loose from the trim then you just slide them back in, you also have to be just as aggressive getting the clips to sit fully home when you come to replace the trim.

I'm built like a twig and I had no problem removing the plastic panel.

Just remove the two screws and then pull firmly downward from one corner and work your way around to the other side. There are about 9 metal clips that push into the frame of the boot to hold the panel in place. Sounds like they are breaking when you remove it but they aren't.

That's the wee buggers there ^

Thanks for the advice guys! Veedubnoodle, I'm like u built like a twiglet! maybe it was because I decided to do it last after installing the interior led kit I was freezing and at the end of my tether after messing about unscrewing and then rescrewing the plate lights. Will try again at some point as have to get that knife out of there (might have some weetabix and try again today)
