What car did you have before your A3/S3 8V?

I'm enjoying this thread and do not mind if it is opened up to A3 owners. I always find myself looking at peoples signature trying to see what cars they had previously so this makes interesting reading for me.

Great pocket rocket, but after ten years I wanted something more girlfriend-friendly (38H boobs plus British roads plus Type-R suspension do not make for a happy lady!) and modern. My A3 1.8 quattro feels every bit as fast as the Civic but it's SO much more refined in every way.

Really practical runabout with a good bit of poke and still giving 50mpg+. An enjoyable car but with its age I had got to the point where the maintenance costs meant I could have a much nicer car for the money.

Also had a company owned BMW 320d Touring - I changed jobs, so that went. I traded our RS for the S3 and the missis has also changed her job, so she now has a 2014MY Porsche Boxster S as her company car ... we plan to trade the S3 for an RS3 later this year and if I can convince her to take the money - then we'll get another Cayman, hopefully find a decent priced used GTS PDK or even order a new one if the finances stack up...

Well if THAT's the case then, I'll add this - last years toy to complement the EVO for those long hot sunny days - since sold, as it was just impractical on UK roads......

Audi A3 8V 1.4 TFSI S Line. Had it for 13 months before very impulsive S3 purchase.
Previous to that an A5 Black Edition, still my favourite car regret getting rid every time I see one on the roads.

Yes guys, can you believe it, I had a a car for 16 years, just sold yesterday to a guy who has his own garage and does them up for general everyday use and the occasional track day.
Think there will be a difference me thinks stepping into the Audi S3!

I love the car but it had to go because we needed something smaller for the school run. My wife much prefers the A3.
The only thing I really didn't like about it was the ride over big bumps. I swapped the run flats for normal tyres and that helped but the A3 rides absorbs large bumps so much better. It was an absolute rocket away from the lights thanks to 4 wheel drive and the 8 speed autobox. Economy wasn't so bad either...26mpg on the school run and 32 on a longer run.

Fantastic car (my first one), but the engine just didn't satisfy me after the initial fun. I'm sure I'll miss the cabin / size (but perhaps not the problem trying to park in any space)!
