Well I have an oil leak and thought it was the cam cover gasket so changed it, but the leak is still there.

I then decided to do the oil cap test, where it is loose while the engine is running and it bounces about the place like a mad man.

I then checked the PCV breather to see if there was any pressure coming out the cam cover and there was very little meaning it must be blocked

Can you clean the PCV valve thing that comes out the cam cover and feeds in to the intake air pipe to the turbo

tried blowing into the crankcase breather with engine off ans it was blocked, so going to take cover off again and try and unblock tonight unless poeple have other ideas.

New cover kit from TPS is £102+VAT ouch.........and just bought a new gasket the other day!

Crankcase breather is clear and discovered that the airbox hose was loose so will see if that combo resolves issues or not tomorrow.

Cheers, but unfortunately on my 1.9tdi it is all built into the cam cover and to change it would be a complete cam cover.

All is clear with no restrictions that I can see when I checked last night, but the loose airbox hose could have been the source of the issue.......need to clean up the oil mess on the drivers side of the block and down, as run out of time and continue to monitor the leak and oil level

I had a similar ish problem on a 2006 vaux zaf 1.6. was crank case vacuum and oil dissapearing but not being burnt. drove me crazy replaced the cam cover twice and other things a dozen times. never go to the bottom of it and sold the car.
