Hi guys

I'm considering moving on from my 2010 a4 1.8tfsi and moving to a 2.0tfsi S3.

What I would like to know is does the S3 having the 2.0tfsi engine suffer from the major oil consumption problems ( piston rings etc) that other model 2.0tfsi cars do? Is this a known problem I should be aware of before I go on the hunt?

All of the 2.0tfsi that have a cambelt not chain don't suffer,

I'm not sure about the 8v chassis s3

So the S3 is belt driven rather than chain driven? Have you heard of anybody or seen a thread regarding oil consumption with a S3 before I can't seem to find any which might be s good sign

They do use oil but nothing as bad as the 1,8 TFSi they seem to be bad on oil.

I'm sure you won't regret the change !

Mine uses a little oil, not to the degree that some of the A4's do but in 12k miles, i've used 5 litres

My 2011 s3 seems to use a litre every 1,500 miles or so. I drive pretty hard which I imagine won't help.

My now replaced, 2011 S3, used to use around 400ml per 1k miles. (I think it creeped up from 300ml in the 10k miles I owned it)
I found it rather worrying that it used quite so much, but not as bad as my S4 which used to drink a litre every 1k miles.

It seems it may be down to the performance of this engine and it will use oil more than other cars but aslong as its not an actual fault it seems ok.
