This ko4-015 was given to me by a mate, im messing with it, and there isn't any movement back and forth, only very little but there is movement left to right, maybe a mm, is this normal?

if you try to push the shaft in and out, there should be basically no detectable movement.
side to side theres always some but just ensure the wheel cant touch the cover (look for witness marks where it has been touching)

yep. Looks fine play like that is normal. Just look closely where the tips of the compressor wheel come next to the housing and make sure there are no witness marks from them contacting the housing. If there are, you want it rebuilt with new bearings.
Bear in mind, that K04-015 is really quite small, its essentially the same as a K03S that the Golf/A3 folks get, its much smaller than the K04 on the S3. Probably good for 230-240hp.
