These we're taken from my old PFL TDI Avant.

Both covers cost about £45 from TPS.

They look really good how much do they go for roughly thinking of getting the passat wipers

Did you get around to fitting the brake upgrade? I'd have had the calipers and carriers shot blasted then repainted. Worth using a Bigg Red rebuild kit too and lightly lube the cylinder bore with Lockheed red grease. Essential on older brakes. Complete brake bleed afterwards, etc.

No not yet. Got all the parts just need to tee up a good time at a mates garage to use his bearing press, thought if I'm replacing the calipers, hoses, discs and pads I may as well do the wheel bearings whilst it's all off. I'll also be changing the brake fluid as looking at the history it's a little over due.

I need to strip the yellow paint off the carriers too, got some nitro morse, whatever it's called, to strip it all off.

Where can you buy this 'Bigg Red' rebuild kit? Lockheed grease, does that come in the kit?

Never rebuilt/overhauled brake calipers before, does it come with instructions?

I would seriously consider just sending the calipers to BiggRed for a refurb.

The seal kit costs about 20quid, and pistons are £20 each, so your 60quid in parts before you even start. BiggRed will take your calipers, shot blast and fully clean them, paint them, and rebuild with new everything for about £110.

Seems a bit of a no brainer then. I've just pinged the company an email asking for a quote to refurb them.

Cheers mate.

Just in case anyone else is thinking about it?

I would have thought black was considered a standard finish... obviously not.

I guess in your case they were different calipers and anything performance related carries a greater expense.

I'll probably suck it up and go for the premium just because it has the colour option I want and has the anti-corrosion protection.

I think they've just removed it for some reason, standard black isnt mentioned on their website any more either.

If it were me, I'd ask them and see if they'll do it. Just tell them they did mine in standard black and you'd like the same.

That said, yeh the premium option will last a lot better.

Well I'm very pleased to announce that I'm the proud owner of a set of 5 TQS Bolero's. Picked them up today from fullpower, cheers mate

Will get pics up soon.

Plan is to remove tyres and polish the lips up as the centres are in good condition. Once polished I'll re-lacquer ready for summer months

look forward to seeing what they could of looked like.

Had a little play with my new snow foam lance, much better than the Karcher one, it's more economical and better coverage.

Managed to source a good condition pair of FL xenons. Fitted and polished them today and I'm really chuffed with them.

After a polish;

I'm not going to sit here and say they're any better than a decent HID kit because I've never used one but I'm a man of originality and prefer the OEM+ approach.

Not used them in complete darkness yet but I'm hoping they'll be similar to the xenons I used to have on my BM.

Swap out the yellow side lights but be careful as the holders become brittle and brake but all isnt dull as you can get new ones from the TT.

Also offered up the Bolero's I bought a few weeks back to see how they sit;

They sit almost identical to the 16's currently fitted as the tyre profile is 55 but the Bolero's, as you all know, are 17's with tyre profile 45.

I'm hoping it will feel more planted as I'll be going from a 205 to 225 width.

I'll be getting my local garage to whip the tyres off next week in prep for when I polish the lips up. I've also ordered 2 new tyres as the fronts have seen better days.

Having seen what they'll retrospectively look like fitted, I'll be fitting some lowering springs, 30mm front and 20mm rear. I think that will set the stance off quite nicely.

Yeah, going to order some LED side lights off eBay. Was hoping I could use the ones fitted to my non-xenon set but the bulb holders are different, they're bayonet on the xenons.

Yeah normal A4 are T10 501 capless the xenons are Ba9S 5w bayonet.

If the bulbs tight be careful as i had one crumble in my fingers :nevreness:

What did you use to polish the lights? Mine need this badly!

Hi mate, I've been using Mother's plastic polish (red bottle), cost about £10 iirc. However, I did buy the 3M headlight resto kit and I use the blacking plate and the waffle buffing pad to polish. Works really well, on all plastics!

If you have discolouring/hazing then you'll defo need the 3M kit to utilise the whole process. It's got really good reviews. Bought my kit off Amazon. You can buy the Meguiars alternative, same sort of money and good reviews. You can buy this from Halfords iirc.

Oh, defo use a mains power drill with variable speed, you get a much better finish

Afternoon chaps, just after a little guidance if possible?

Thought I'd run VCDS on the car to see how she's doing, I'm happy to report that all is well apart from when scanning the engine, I get these faults;

75ca0d9453fe5656aea8ca701df292cb.jpg

My questions are;

What could cause the P1128 fault code? Bad MAF or vacuum leak?

How do I know which Lambda sensor is goosed? Please correct if I'm wrong but I thought there was 2?

Cheers chaps

Go for the cree ones much brighter and similar price for the same money

16518 is B1S1 Lambda no activity
17545 is Additive fuel trims, system too rich.

Given you have two fault codes for the lambda sensor, get that changed first reset the codes and see if the fuel trim stuff comes back. With a faulty lambda the fuel trims are meaningless.

As for which lambda it is, B1S1 is the lambda nearest the engine, before the cat, probably in the engine bay right up next to (or in) the exhaust manifold.

Cheers mate, appreciate the response.

I assume both Lambda probes are the same? As in if I order a Bosch Lambda probe for a Audi B5 1.8 it'll be the right one?

Cheers

You may find these a bit yellow still the cree one cree a lot brighter

Look at these basically what I got in mine but with a bayonet 251333628304
