Hi chaps,

I see these missing on cars quite often but happen to notice that mine are working loose, see pic;

I was wondering if anyone's replaced these before and what's required? At first inspection it look as though the clips on the black trim have broke off and will no longer mate to the white clipping point. The previous owner, it appears, has glued the trim in position but it's becoming in affective now as the kick plates get wet and dirty quickly.

Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Pop to main dealer and order new one for about £25. One screw to remove which will be rusted and probably need drilling out then the trim will pretty much fall off. Clean up the door and clips before sliding new trim into place and refitting a new screw.

Whereabouts is this screw located? I reckon I could prize the trim off, as it's glued, clean the white clips and fit new trim. In fairness all the trim on the car needs replacing, I've found a compete set on eBay, non-OEM, for £45. I reckon from Audi it will be over £100 for a full set?

The door strip (once the screw is removed) should slide off. Pull it towards the rear of the car, don't prize it off or you'll break the retaining clips.

When you open the door, the bolt will be at the front of it -inside the car.

its not a seal, just a trim, and yes the screw is at the front edge of the door, just open it right up and look at the front corner. You'll either see a small rusty screw, or a hole where its been snapped off previously :p

Resurrecting this - does anybody have the Audi part numbers for these trims please?
Euro still seem to do a couple of them ( 843444530 & 540 ) but there must be two more numbers - and there's no description so don't know what bits you're going to get !
Would prefer Audi bits, her car and she's fussy - but she's happy to pay for 'good' bits ! Thanks .

From what I've read elsewhere on this, pattern parts are very hit and miss when it comes to good fitment. So they might be good they might not?

Audi charge a ****** fortune for these but you're guaranteed a good fit.

I need to change mine too and still weighing up the options....

OK here are some further details - I visited the local dealer today:

A 8DO 853 959 BO £61.35 ( can order in: delivery 48 - 72 hours)
A 8DO 853 960 £61.35
A8DO 853 969 £45.36
A8DO 853 970 £41.50 ( in stock at the dealers - lower price reflects that there has been a very recent price increase - but Euro rates vs £ is in the UK's favour and prices should have gone the other way -- yeah!!!)

I have been offered a trade account, gets me 10% off...... better than nothing, so I accepted !

Sweet Jesus , so you paid around £180 after your 10% discount? That's a lot for 4 pieces of plastic!!

Does that come with clips and screws?

Not paid a penny - but I expect I will be :-

her car and she's fussy - but she's happy to pay for 'good' bits !
Only one screw , at the front of each piece , and they are in pristine condition - seriously !
Clips ( mounted on the door panel) are white nylon type and look fine ....

I'll update in due course..... !!

Kingfisher, sorry to resurrect but I'm still looking for decent price ones. Audi dealer prices are a joke for some plastic parts on a £800 car!
I don't know why Audi don't do historical discounts like BMW and Merc have done in the past. It would make a lot more sense. I've found a guy in Latvia on Ebay who has a set. Me thinks a group buy would be a good idea as they make an otherwise good looking car look sh*te.
Let us know how you got on?
Cheers

Sorry, was away on holiday and had forgotten all about this !
In the end I just bought the bits from the local dealer, but they did give me 10% 'trade discount' .... well it all helps.
Clips and screws are extra - I didn't need to replace any.
I had no problems with the fixing screws but if they are rusted then that would add a lot of time to the job.
It took me about 20 minutes to do the first strip and 20 minutes to do the remaining 3 !!
It looks so much better and I've now got loads of brownie points from her indoors

I know it was a lot of money but this is a 90k immaculate car with a huge history file and we both enjoy driving it.... and a replacement car is going to cost several tens of thousands more than maintaining this one in its current condition.:)

Aragorn's offer may be your salvation though !

i pulled the strips off the two cars today. I've got a full set plus a set minus the drivers door.

They're obviously not new, but they are in decent nick and not rusty, i assume they've been replaced at some point in the distant past for the newer plastic type.

I will try to sort out some photos tomorrow.

Kingfisher, Thanks for the update.... mine was bought as a 108k good car and is now still quite good @ 123k so I'd like to sort them. I took one off the driver's door yesterday ready to fit the new one, good luck with yours and well done on the Brownie points........ :)

Thanks Aragorn, that would be fantastic. Please PM me with them. I'm after both fronts but would take the full set off you. Driver's was rusty and basically fell off!! :(
They make or break a good car IMO. Shame Audi didn't just put them on sale! LOL
