The boot false floor does not seem that strong, is the meant to be a support in the middle or something, and what's meant to be in this holder type thing on the battery bracket please :)

Mine sits on this lip thats around the outside.
Do all a1's have the battery in the boot to?

It sits on that lip but there is a gap between the false floor and the real floor ( sadly Its not touching the bracket) and it doesn't feel very strong, i wouldn't want to put too much weight on it as it flexes in the middle, that's why i wondered if there should be a support under it :uhm:

Ah, well if yours has has been like that for a year and had no issues maybe i'm worrying over nothing then, cheers bud :thumbs up:

There's an echo in here! There's an echo in here!

Glad you posted this as I was going to ask the same, just seems too many gaps in the tray.

Is the Quattro any different? I know the A3 has different boots.

You can't lower the boot in the S1 because the quattro rear diff has raised the floor up already. Once once you put the battery/subwoofer/jack etc in there you are up to the raised position.

So I can answer your question for you.

If you fit a spare wheel then a screw slides into that cutout on the plate holding the battery, the spare wheel fits over the top, and then the hand turned nut bolts the spare wheel down.

You get the same as well if you have the luggage option at new, as the same screw device is fitted to hold the tray.

Correct you can't, but to be honest I'd sooner have a spare wheel than one of those pump up repair kits, never had a lot of luck with those things. Here's a few pictures of how the spare wheel fits in the A1. You have to buy a different tray as well for the boot.

Looking at the pictures of yours at the top mintex, I'd say that whoever had your A1 before you has probably had the spare wheel kit fitted and then taken it out to sell separately before trading in the car or selling it on (as they are not cheap at about £200 all in) to get more cash back.
What you could do though - if on the A1 you opt for the luggage package (that comes with yet another different tray in the boot, which actually has the spare wheel screw with it to hold it in), then this fits directly above the battery so supports the base when in the upper position (if you want to lower the boot floor you have to take that and the screw on the battery tray out (the battery tray screw just slides out). The tray by itself looks exactly the same as the one I have fitted with the spare wheel, the only difference is in the cut-out underneath. The new tray I purchased had the cut out for the spare wheel underneath, the other has a cut out to fit around the battery. Separately there is the little side tray you will also need which fits to either of the 2 trays (which you can see on the left in my pictures). You'll need that as well, if you fit either of the 2 trays (above).

Ah now i see, thanks very much for the pictures, they are a great help :thumbs up:

Ive been out today and bought myself a space saver wheel and placed it in the boot, i hope i never have to use it but its there if i do :)

Great information.
I've just bought my wife an A1 (1.4 TFSI, 140PS) with the battery in the boot. Tried lowering the floor which now rocks on the top of the battery/spare wheel bracket.
Is there a special boot floor I could buy that does not rock and fits neatly with no gaps?

Poor design by Audi for the sake of about 10mm packing either side to give a level floor in the lower position.
