Only just signed up to this and already my 3rd post. Basically had my car a week now and iv just started noticing a weird turbo noise almost like it has a dump valve or waste gate and does it when on boost and when letting of under load Only happens now and then on way work. Any suggestions??

If it ain't got a dump valve fitted then its going to be a boost leak for sure and in your case a bad one from the sound of things.

Dump Valve, drivers side front at the bottom. Thats if its a 1.8t.

Its a tdi 130 and it only does it now and then and could drive it work and it will suddenly start doing it half way there then may stop for abit.

If its a coughing sort of sound coming back through the airbox, when you let off the throttle it could be the vanes in the turbo starting to stick.
From about 1400rpm in 3rd, accelerate hard to about 2000rpm, just enough to get the turbo spinning hard, then let off the throttle, that should make it do it.
If they get really sticky they will put you in limp mode when accellerating hard to 4000 rpm or so. The vanes will stick and cause it to over boost.
If its still running well, take it on a really long drive, get it nice and hot and make it work, try and burn some soot out of the turbo, you don't need to thrash it, just work it hard from low revs to 3500 - 4000 or so.. 3rds a good gear..
If you move the turbo actuator by hand it should move nicely and snap back when you let go, if its stiff its getting sooted up. Plenty of the guys on here have done the Mr Muscle thing and had good results, have a search.. If thats what it is of coarse..

That's exactly what it's like. A friend mechanic of mine mentioned the turbo vanes sticking. And also told me about Mr muscle being used. The last owner of the car was a elderly man so doubt it was never driven hard and now I've got it its started making this noise. Has anyone got the guide to unstick the turbo vanes with Mr muscle.

I'd just take it on a good long run first as it doesn't sound too bad, maybe run with some Millers diesel Power Ecomax in the fuel as well.
They won't tolerate potting about, as would any engine really.
Hard work is the best thing for it, load it up and make it work, that'll also help push the rings out and help de glaze the bores.

When you accelerate hard from low revs the vanes will move to give maximum boost, then as the revs increase the vanes will gradually move back to keep the boost pressure controlled.
Drive it hard in 3rd from low revs and that'll make the vanes move through their full range, combined with a good hot engine you should be able to burn some soot off.

As above for the Mr Muscle clean..
