I am hoping someone could help me.
I have just purchased a 12 year old A4 B6 Cabriolet 2.5 TDI.
I did a scan when I got home with it, and it highlight numerous issues.

Please could someone help me understand in what order I should address the issues ?
Are any major ?
I have very little understanding of VCDS

Thank you in advance.

As Paul says, many codes can be caused by low voltage over the cars life and many gargaes dont clear them out or check. When i say low voltage i mean the time between the key is turned (cold and battery low) and the point the alternator kicks in, and that short period is enough to throw many ECUs if the battery voltage was below par but just enough to fire the engine.

To be honest i think these codes are factory standard , most newly bought audis im coming across seem to have most these codes. PMSL.

Regarding the injector:
Could it be the wiring?
Been quoted about £450 + vat to replace injector ... gutted :-(

Any help or advice anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ben

The needle lift sensor is built into injector number 3 - rear injector on the O/S bank. They are known to go and as far as I know cannot be overhauled. You can either buy a new injector from Audi or a know good replacement from a breaker or online auction.

Replacing the injector yourself isn't hard, there's several guides in the forum. Try searching for AlexGSi who replaced his and did a write-up.

Running without the sensor replaced while you source a replacement won't do any damage, it just won't be running at 100% efficiency.

The alarm sounder fault is quite common. The backup battery in the sounder unit ages and leaks onto the PCB causing the unit to be irreparably damaged and sometimes strange noises from your boot! New units about £100 from Audi or take your chances with a used one.

Hi Frank, thank you for your reply.

Do you know if the dodgy injecter would cause it to have less power?

Thanks
Ben

Wouldn't imagine it'll have a huge impact on power. As far as I can make out they are more used to 'fine tune' the timing.

I read a post a while back that mentioned that if the G80 is dud then the system falls back to another sensor (possibly in the fuel pump itself) to help determine timing of the engine. If they both go down then I would imagine it'd have a significant impact.

The car can be a bit juddery pulling away, and the clutch biting point is quite high.

Also the turbo dosen't seem to pick up fully until approx. 2500rpm.

Wish i'd never bought the car :-(

Aye had that feeling with new cars before, unfortunately with cars 10odd years old there will always be something suppose it depends how well they've been cared for by previous owners.

I occasionally get a judder when pulling away first thing in the morning, once it's warmed up its fine. Moisture can condense on the flywheel on the folders nights and this causes the judder apparently. My car has 135k and 8 previous owners but no sign of the clutch/flywheel ever having been changed.

Sometimes it's simple things with these motors, you should be getting good boost from about 1800 rpm, try checking over all the vacuum pipes in the engine bay, they'll be getting on a bit by now and a couple of quids worth of pipe may sort it. Same with intercooler pipes, any splits in these and all your boost is vented to atmosphere.

It can be a pain but when running correctly the V6 diesel is a really smooth drive.

Frank

With the third injector faulty the ecu reverts to Base settings which are inbetween limp home and normal, wont do any damage as frank says but will be bit rough.
