Hi All,

I've been researching downpipes and high flow sports cats and a lot of people upgrade the dogbone mount due to the limited amount of space between the proptshaft and body tunnel.

Firstly why upgrade it? Are upgraded dogbone mounts thinner or smaller?

Also, if I upgraded it, is there a chance I could induce noise/vibrations into the cabin?

Final question, what would I notice in terms of feel if I did upgrade this dogbone mount?

I did a search but nobody really talks about what this mod does, just how to for it!

Thanks.

it just replaces the bushes on the standard dog bone and helps stop engine movement, thus stopping the dp moving around as much, vibration levels weren't noticeable when i changed mine, i went with the red diesel bush but have read that the yellow one does increase vibration, i am no expert just what i have read on here :)

I've fitted the Powerflex yellow rear bushes and the Powerflex front bush to my dogbone mount this weekend. I torqued the compression bolt to 20Nm + 1/4 turn, and notice no added vibrations at all. I did read that using the yellow rear with the OEM rubber front bush can contribute to the increased vibrations.

I notice a more direct acceleration from standstill, slightly improved throttle response, slight handling improvement during speed changes in corners (hard to describe, you don't notice it being a problem until you fix it) so all in all, I am very pleased with the results :)
Hope this helps :)

I have yellow rear and green front, which were already on the car when I Baught it, there is slight vibration at around 2000 rpm but very slight.

I ran a yellow main dogbone bush on my old Leon Cupra and the difference was certainly noticeable enough to warrant the ~£20 to get it done. Firms everything up and there's far reduced movement in the bay as a result. Have just done the same plus a black (hardest) small bush to my LCR and have a tiny bit of vibration on static idle but expect it to largely disappear after a few hundred miles.

Thanks for all the really helpful replies guys. I emailed Pipe Werx and they said you can replace with standard OEM bushes. I don't care what bushes I have as long as I get no extra induced noises/vibrations from upgraded bushes or movement of the downpipe (if I go the OEM route)

Fitted the red bush on mine, very very slight vibration at first but either I've got used to it or it's bedded in a bit now, much better feel pulling away and changing gear though.
I was replacing a 130k standard bush though, which is what alot of people seem to forget when they fit poly stuff, they seem alot more rigid than standard but then your usually comparing them to an old worn out bush...

mine had to be done, my 3" downpipe was knocking on the tunnel when i was accelerating and had only done approx 8k miles on the oem bush so swapped it out for the red bush and has been brilliant since
