hi everyone
I currently have a 2.0tdi 143 Saloon and find that having had a hatchback prior (vectra) the carrying capability and boot space is shocking in the saloon

What are the differences with then avant e.g.
For carrying purposes/ space
Also real life mpg
Drivability

I am thinking of trading my saloon in for an avant was also thinking of a 3.0tdi instead of the 2.0tdi

Any info great

Thanks

I've just gone from a 2010 A4 saloon to a 2015 A4 Avant for the purpose on easier access to the boot, the mpg is about the same for about 34 more bhp

So you think its worth doing then ? i never thought i would need that much space but having been in the process of koving out saloon has just been rubbish i do love it though
Also looking to get a doberman and i wont get one of them in the boot of my saloon and do you mind me asking what you got trade in for it this is what is concerning me with the house at the moment i dont have much spare cash

I loved the saloon for the look and size and i never thought of buying a estate due to thinking they were for old people etc...lol
But i couldn't be far from it, the boot was big on the saloon but just awkward to get large things in as you know and with the avant it's just easy. We just need it as we have a 4 year old boy with his bike, toys, going away, etc...
I don't really want to say about the px value sorry, just pop down to your local dealer or use we buy any car site for a idea.
Good luck.....

Hi ..I've just bought an avant 3.0 tdi Quattro and this is how I see it
..it's more practical,
It looks better,
It goes better
Loads of grip,
And hardly any difference in fuel

I went from a B7 saloon to B8 avant just 6 months ago and I love it. More boot space & definitely more practical when required.
IMO there are only a few estates that look the db's, and Audi is certainly one of them.

IMHO the S-line Avants look better than saloons (but that is a personal opinion folks)...

So as stated above
  • It's more practical,
  • It looks better,
  • It goes OK

  • Loads of grip (temporarily replaced the 18" S-line alloys with steel 16" winter tyres - grip is brilliant)
  • 2.0TDi Quattro (2010 -170HP version) Is "OK" but the 3.0TDi Quattro must be awesome
  • Rear privacy glass and electric tailgate does it for me !

I've gone from a saloon to the avant and I don't think I can ever go back. The avant is way more practical in terms of accessiblity and space. I even managed to get a fridge/freezer in the other day. The look is good also (maybe I'm used to it). Like the others have said, the mpg is similar, even though the avant is supposed to be slightly heavier.

Having recently moved from a saloon Passat to a a4 avant, I cant tell u how much more practical an estate is.
The boot on the Passat was huge but only for flat things.
and now I have an avant I don't have to ask my father in law to borrow his free lander every time I need to get something in the back lol

Try having a saloon without a folding back seat the you will really know what the word impractical means.....those of us who had a B6 or B7 A4 will remember that said item was an optional extra, I must say I was very grateful for the fact when I learned that the B8 saloon has always had a folding seat as standard......

OMG I remember the saloon days where the back seats don't fold.
There was one occasion where I offered to carry a chair for a colleague, of course it didn't fit. But the secretary's micra fitted…. was so embarrassed.

I love my A4 Estate... this weekend after a trip to Ikea I loaded a double bed with mattress, dining table, coffee table, TV stand and 4 chairs... All i had to do was move the passenger seat forward a little-bit... try doing that with a saloon!!
