apple lightning Audi cable.

Is it true that everything is fully functional via Bluetooth? I.e album art and steering wheel button controls and the only extra that the cable offers is charging?
It is true only if you have MMI 3G and Audi Connect.

But what is interesting my Audi dealer told me my car supports only Yellow and Green (Which is not in production anymore) cables, while I read in my car manual that for every Apple products I have to use red cable, haha. Just can not believe what will they do to protect yourself

My dealer is sure it's a yellow cable needed with the tech pack and has set one aside for me along with instructions not to wash the car

hi guys sorry to add to the confusion,
I have a 2 week old A4 with 3G tech pack high, green cable, with use of Audio, album art, podcasts, steering wheel buttons control, purchased music , itunes, on the go tabs, and playlists all visible and use-able on my system. But no video. Would the yellow collared cable offer this ? cheers.

Apple Lightning does not support analogue video out (the old 30 pin connector did).

So unless your version of MMI supports whatever flavour of digital video that the Lightning connector does, you're not going to get video with Green or Yellow cables.

Even though I have an IPhone 5S I still find it better to use the red collar cable & lighting to 30-pin adapter as I get more functionality than with the AMI green collar lighting cable.

Hi what advantages does the above give over just using the green cable ? Sorry if mentioned already ( this is a confusing topic ) I have the green collar currently, cheers

My green-collared cable doesn't seem to be working anymore – it just shows the loading screen when selecting my iPhone under media. Tried an MMI reset and unplugging the phone several times.

Do these cables break pretty easily? Do Audi replace faulty ones?

And

"Shame about the build quality issues. With the green cable I twisted my phone slightly and the whole black box fell in half. Looks like the yellow one is not much more robust."

I had issues with the AMI ( using green collared lead ) with it not playing the songs, pod casts etc .... but I seen on another forum, that if you restart the phone, then open up the music app, and podcasts app they then show up on the AMI.
Weird - but works for me, ?
And agree the leads are pretty flimsy.

That issue drives me nuts, sometimes it just randomly does not work and I have to restart my phone.

Tried restarting the phone?

And yes the cable seems very flimsy indeed.
Yep, it's definitely the cable. It sometimes starts working, but then I move the phone slightly and it stops again. Do I have to pay £40 or whatever for a new one?!

Ordered a yellow cable off eBay and they send me a white one. Waste of time.

I am going crazy with this issue. I have a 15 plate A5 black edition plus and got the Lightning cable ending with 510 AM

This works with my iPhone 6+ but drops out and reconnects every 5-10 seconds.

Dealer said, when I picked the car up, that either a software update on phone or MMI would solve it but never heard back from them.

I think this cable is the latest one but I cannot for the life of me get it working !!!

Has anyone else experienced this ?

How long have you had the car? Surely the mmi should be in the latest version?

I picked the car up early March so yes should be latest version.

HN+_EU_AU3G_P0814 ?

One thing that worked for me , was to close down all apps on the phone and then open up the music app, and podcast app before plugging in.
Weird I know, but seems to do the trick.
( Green collared lead - and 2015 version of MMI .)

Thanks but that didnt work either. Took it to Audi today and they tried another cable but to no avail. Booking in for a diagnostic check and see if there are any MMI updates I am missing

Guys,

collected the the new motor today (first impressions to follow).

Was given a lightning MMI cable for my Iphone 5 which apparently was new in this week.

I just picked up an A3 and was bummed Siri doesn't work through the Audi connect. I went by a dealership today and tested the MMI to lighting cable and it solves the issue with Siri but it's so short it's not worth the hassle. Anyone seen longer options?

I absolutely love my S3 except for the Apple device integration, it's crap!

My A4 had an older MMI system and it supported random/shuffling of tracks from the iPod I had connected, no such luck with the S3 with the iPhone 5 or 6 I tried using the supplied Lightning AMI cable, or two iPods I tried using the old-style dock connector cable from my A4.

I'm not getting album artwork either, whereas the same music on a SD card works great.

Not impressed!

I've been having issues with my yellow cable. MMI keeps saying iPhone not recognised and update firmware. Doing an MMI reset makes it work but it's really annoying. I heard back from Audi today that the correct cable for me is the white one!!! Mines and 8v 2014 with tech pack.

Has anyone got the white one? Is this the new one? What does this do over the yellow?
