How do you dry your floor mats?

I washed the salt out of my Audi factory installed floor mats on Thursday, running them under warm water in the laundry tub. (I have since installed rubber mats in the car). Since it's freezing outside I propped them up indoors to dry. Three days later and the lower section of the driver's side mat is still soaked, and the passenger side is quite damp. I slide my hand across and water wrings out like squeezing a wet sponge.

Now I'm worried about having them in the car in the spring and taking ages to dry after it rains. Won't they get mouldy? How do you dry yours?

Usually by the time I wash the car and have the rubber mats snowfoamed they're dry by the time I have the washing done. If they're still damp I would wipe over them with a microfibre cloth.

Use an old drying towel or buy a chamois then rub the mat, wring out & repeat. This should be fine for helping get the excess water out.

Living in Devon I never use the carpet mats. I got the rubber mats as soon as I got the car and they are washed every time I wash the car.

I whack them on the aga. Failing that. Find someone with an aga.

I use a leaf blower :icon thumright:. Blasts all the water out of the little nooks and crannies

As you've found out the factory fitted cloth mats can soak up a fair amount of water. It's not really a good idea to put wet mats in your car. You need to remove them as the under carpet will now be soaked and they wont dry while the mats are on the top.

Put in a small fan heater until the base carpet is dry, then hang the carpet mats on the line or some where warm.

Thanks all, glad I'm not the only one to notice their absorbent properties. Heated fan (winter) or leaf blower (summer) it is then. Or maybe I'll use the rubber ones year round.

Put a towel on top of the matts and step on them, the towel will suck a lot of water.
another option is a dehumidifier.

I personally wet vac so you could vac all the water out of them and once done that doesn't hurt to put a heater on them
