Hi, as per title I have replaced my Symphony with a Symphony 2+. I had to strip it down and fit a new changer mechanism but all good.

One small issue though, when u turn the key to start the engine I get a pop from the speakers. I have Bose and I get sound from all the speakers so I think I wired the harness up correctly, I used a RNS-E harness and moved a couple of pins.

Any ideas why it pops ?

Cheers.

Some before and after pictures :) It still pops slightly when starting the engine but apart from that it works really well. As I have the older style multifunction wheel the track change controls no longer work but I can control the volume.

popping would indicate to me a power/grounding interferance........check to see if the speaker cables and or power cables are not pinched somewhere.

Try removing the unit from the cage, free up cables and see if it still makes the popping.....if it does not, then you know it is cable replate for sure

Cheers Mike. I used a rns-e adaptor and moved the pins so I'm wondering if I missed something. Will give your suggestion a try. I have had the unit out a couple of times (I replaced the cd mechanism for a new one do I had to test it etc) so I don't think it's a pinched wire. My hunch is the Bose amp powering off and on again as I turn the key.

Since fitting my aftermarket headunit my speakers also make a popping noise.

Lol that's cheating. It's not a bad pop but I still would like to fix it.

Good upgrade isnt it!
Combine a good set of aftermarket front component speakers and it will beat the Bose system anyday.

Mine has never popped though....

Interesting,I wonder what im missing then ? It's definitiy a good upgrade, just the fact I can burn mp3 CDs is the main reason I did it :)

is this still a 6 disc changer just now it does mp3s?

I was unable to find any other post similar to this thread in other forums, and I know this thread is a little aged now, but I was wondering if you were ever able to resolve this issue. I'm experiencing the same problem when starting the car after an upgrade from BOSE S2 to BOSE S2+, and a re-pinned RNS-E harness.

haha, I guess that's one way to circumvent it. I wonder if it's just something with the re-pinned RNS-e harness.

If you don't have Bose and just have the single din concert, can you just fit these straight in without any wiring modifications?
Obviously I realise I would need the double din cage and to trim my ac pannel down.

Not sure, when I fitted it and it popped I checked my pin outs more than once and all good so I put it down to compatibility issues, this head unit was never intended for my age if car. I suspect the pop is the Bose amp powering up but it's missing a signal or input.
