Hi all,i have a 2008 1.8tfsi se and have grey and vanilla interior(I have given up trying to keep it clean) have ordered some custom fit seat covers which should come later in the week.
When I sit in the drivers seat on the right hand side bolster I can easily feel a metal rod and its marked the material, its as if the padding has moved or has worn away, now what I want to know is how easy is it to replace the seat with a 2009 model which is the same colour ie with airbags etc.
I hope someone can help me with this because if I put the seat covers on, that bar is probably gonna ruin them in no time and as they cost £280 I would like them to last.

ps if the foam has moved would it be possible to remove the plastic back of the seat and somehow get my hand in to move the foam back
many many thanks in advance

Removing the front seat is easy enough, if I remember right its only four bolts and the connectors under the seat. You'll need to double check wiring/connectors are the same as your existing ones, if they are should be a straight swap.

I've been looking at replacing my shitey cloth seats for second hand leather ones but also came across custom fit cover alternatives. As my seats are in good condition, I could save a few £££'s and have new leather in the car. Can you PM details of where you got yours from?

Thanks

I'd check the coding mate. Nothing worse than if you have an impact and they don't go off

i have a 2008 a4 8k se cloth seats, replaced with leather seats from a 2010 sline airbag was fine only thing was that my original seats did not have lumber support and donor ones came with electric button for lumber support, if i had the time its possible i could wire it up but not too bothered ......

Thanks for the advice guys but have decided not to mess around with changing seat, what im going to do is buy a piece of foam and shape it and stick it up under the seat cover, not ideal I know but probably easier
