This is a continuation of a conversation from another thread on here but its topic is completely different so I thought I'd start a new one.

I got myself a black badge to go on the front and the back. Some of you guys suggested that the removal of the front one should be fairly simple so I must be doing something wrong.

As far as I can see there is no gap between the badge and the housing to get to the clips. The only way would cause damage to the housing as far as I can tell (not to bothered about the existing badge).

Has anyone got any instructions (ideally with pictures) how to do this?

Remove the front bumper, it's a hell of a lot easier. The original badge has some well seated clips/prongs that clip into place in the surround. Almost all of them broke when I removed the chrome rings.

Cheers D3mon. Removing the bumper is not a easy job though is it?

Yega u really don't need to remove the bumper, just get a thin flat head and squeeze it gently down the side of the badge where the clips are (check the new badge to see where clips are) then prise gently outwards and it will pop out. Once one goes they all come easy afterwards, taking the bumper off is really extreme.

This is roughly where the clip is as far as I know. Do you mean push the screw driver through this gap here?

There's loads of clips. I was concerned about burring up the badge mount by ramming a flat blade in there and didn't have trim removal type tools. There is a bumper removal process guide in the stickies I recall. Three big bolts under the bonnet at the front, some screws under the front of the bumper, some wheel arch screws and two bolts right up behind the headlight. Not hard, but can be fiddly at times.

Yep push it down there, u won't damage the holder if your worried then wrap a bit of leccy tape round the flat head

Cheers guys. I'll give it another go this weekend if weather is favourable. Started it last weekend and it just chucked it down and I didn't have the energy to fiddle with it while getting soaked.

I did it in 30 seconds with a small Swiss Army knife. I did take some feeler gauges, just in case the knife was too bulky but it was fine. There was no marks or damage to the mount, just a lot of swearing when I found out that the badge I had was for an A6 and bigger than the A3 item.
Bumper off is a bit extreme, unless you are doing something else that requires it.

Looking at the clips on the new badge it should just be a case of pushing forward in the correct place and the clip should then go back far enough to dislodge itself from the housing(not sure I explained that right lol).

Failing that, if any of you are anywhere near High Wycombe and can give me a hand let me know :p

Ha,ha. Yes, at 15 miles North of Inverness, I might just be a little while getting to you...!

Seriously, it's a doddle. Stick a blade into the first clip, get your finger nails under the badge and push the remaining clips in until it pops off.
;)

Lol Jake, just a wee drive then :p

I just hope that plastic is quite strong, when I tried it at the weekend I had to really give it some to get in between the badge and the housing. Felt like its going to snap off.

Ok so I had a crack at this again today and I admitted defeat. I'm either doing something wrong or you lot are super skilled at doing this because there is no way I could get the screwdriver in the gap more than 2mm.

My next step is to take the front bumper off unless there is someone who is near High Wycombe able to take the badge off for me and accepts payment in beer :p
