Hi all,

I don't know if it's just my car or if it is across the board, but my seat belt doesn't have a "stopper" on it for the buckle and, everytime I take the belt off, the buckle crashes down to the base. It's really annoying and it's also a pain having to lift it up the belt each time I go to put it on.

Anyone else have this??

Cheers,

Andrew

There should be a stopper and it'd be a bizarre mistake if they forgot to fit it - are you absolutely sure it's not there?

Note that it's a plastic bit which you can slide up and down the belt to the required position, rather than a plastic stud which some cars use, so it might have slid right down to the bottom out of sight.

I had the same problem; but I found the clip had come off and was under the seat.

Thanks Vertigo and NQW. I will have a look tomorrow to see if that's what's happened. My first reaction though is "isn't that a bit cheap?". What was wrong with the traditional stud arrangement, I've never had a problem with that on any of my previous cars....

If it makes you feel any better I had exactly the same problem at first :undwech:. The passenger side had the clip. After about 2 weeks of owning the car, I found the clip had slid to the bottom when I was cleaning the car. Felt such a tool!

It has the advantage that you can adjust the height whereas a stud is fixed but the problem is it works its way down to the bottom far to easily and I find myself pulling it back up every few days. Tend to agree it's a bit of a crap solution and the stud would be far better. I wonder if you can get the studs to fit yourself - only needs a pin through the seat belt webbing which wouldn't cause much damage at all - much like shop security tags through clothing.

I think I would prefer it to be fixed rather than having to retrieve it as it slowly travels further and further down the belt. When it gets to the bottom, the noise the buckle makes as it hits the plastic is awful! Saying that, now I know that the clip exists, I will regularly slide it back upwards.

Or a wee magnetic one, then there would be no damage at all.

Rear seatbelts don't have them at all which is a bit poop.

Si.
