My S3

Hi Alex, any idea why Simon recommends removing the GFB DV+..?

" You would also need to remove the GFB dv+ and rund the correct valve which is the G revision. "

Mine is running the GFB DV+ as well. Can't hear anything from it now used to hear some noise when running it at stage 2+

I was just thinking how many of us have now gone off down the hybrid/big turbo route....quite a group of us now.

I'm very tempted! I'm trying to convince myself that I actually need that turbo!

It was r tech who recommended it to me after simon mentioned speaking to them about a custom map

I don't know why it would make a difference . My GFB seems fine on mine

I'll ask r tech tomorrow and let you know what they say

This is dangerous im actually pricing bits up... :undwech:

My spec so far is:
BCS DeCat Powervalve
Autotech HPFP
RS4 Fuel Valve
REVO CAI
Revo S2+ Map

What else would i need to run a TTE420 ? Im guessing intercooler, anything else ? Im feeling left out not having membership to the 400bhp club :sob:

A good FMIC, the runner flap delete does help, as will uprated throttle and turbo outlet pipes.

Got an answer from r tech re the gfb - see below:

"The GBF dv is basically a gimmick the stock D and G dv will work perfectly for 500+ hp. The stock valve allows the car to keep the correct dv dynamics and reactions"

Hmmm, just because r tech don't like them, will i take it off, noup, if something works fine, why replace it, is it better or worse, dunno, im no mechanic, but as long as it works on my car, its staying put:anonymous:

I was sold dv+ by amd n at the mo i still trust them, cant comment on r tech there is plenty of good reviews about them...google dv n there is a lot of people on each camp, rev d, rev g, dv+, forge...

iirc rev g is the rubber one, and it failed on my car on stage 2 after few months. had a huge hole in it. so i doubt it would last long on higher power setups. otherwise, all others i've tried were great, and i've settled for dv+, as i find it to be a bit more responsive, and the "pause" between gear changes is the minimal out of all i've tried.
for higher boost setups i guess you would need something like forge dv with stronger spring...

I think for anything up to a Stg4 setup that any of the DVs will be fine and after that you'd be using an external waste gate and boost controller in any case.

I really don't think there's much in it.

I'm Revision D and never had any issues with it at all. If it works and does the job it is required to do, then no need to get hung up on who says what.

I've got a pretty old Forge on mine which has been there from 10 000 miles till now and likewise no issues so I totally agree with your comments.

Interesting info Alex, mine had a rev d and it had no issues, I fitted the GFB DV+ and found it good on my stage 2+ but I'm wondering why I can't hear anything now on my stage 3... Might swap it out soon and see what happens when I go back to the standard rev d.

Its one of those things were everyone will have a separate opinion/experience on a DV

I also asked AmD if it was worthwhile adding a TTRS low pressure fuel pump and a 155bar fuel regulator if i was to up the boost and Ben told me
I will only need it if the fuel starts to struggle and that Stage 3 APR Big turbo cars don’t need them, so unlikely that i will.

Very much garage to garage opinion as well -hence why i like to keep mine all under one roof! lol

Hi Alex....

That's exactly right.
The thing is that not only do individual tuners use their own mix of parts, but also their own choice of software and other issues.

We know from my own experience, and others on VAGOC,that the stock LPFP is good for around 440bhp,and after that there are a few solutions, ranging from auxiliary pumps like the USP system on mine, through the RS3/TTRS pump, with correct PWM controller,to full race type systems using Bosch 044 pumps and swirl pots.

So....a big range of solutions, and up to pretty high levels,a good number of them work as well as each other.

totally agree with this statement after trying to coordinate 3 parties - parts purchase, installer and tuner. its a bit of a juggling act...

Small update from me:

Pedal Box for better throttle response - Nice and cheap and worth a try !

http://www.pedalbox.com/en/pedalbox/thats-new.html - Link if anyone wants to look

Next upgrades for the car :

TTRS low pressure fuel pump
155 bar fuel reg

(no rush to get these as plenty of power for the time being!)

Alex

Be careful with the TTRS pump to get the correct PWM controller for it as a few people on Vagoc have had problems with that.

AFAIK the RS3 and TTRS pumps work best with the correct PWM controller and if you search over on Vagoc you'll find the relevant thread.

USP Motorsport sell a complete pump setup but advise that software changes may be required.

pretty certain you can get the original s3 pwm controller re calibrated to accept the higher running temps of the ttrs pump...

that's the road i'm hoping to go down with my setup, i'll let you know how i go...

I think you may be right but I never really looked into it as I've got a USP pump setup.

Running amazing ! How about yours? A porshe carrera 4s decided to have some fun last week and lost ... good feeling that it's money well spent lol

Brakes are really good and certainly turn heads . Very responsive under hard braking and bit noiser than last pads and discs but only under hard braking . Overall I highly recommend them !

Yeah mate, car is running well, WMI controller should be with me tomorrow so hopefully get it plumbed in then too then give it a test run to see how she drives.

Looking forward to getting the brakes..... My car needs them, as well as the fact they look awesome.

Good stuff! Are you running it just for cooler temps ? I spoke to Apr and they neither confirmed or denied that they are creating a map for the tte420 ! Will be interesting to see !

You won't be disappointed with them ! I can imagine braking can be cringy at the moment lol

That's one of the funniest bits of it at times when the little hatchback is actually a LOT quicker than whatever it was that thought it would waste you.

Pedal box on tomorrow for a bit extra throttle response then I'm toying with the idea of an rs3 grill :/ not sure though!

I think that will give you a more linear throttle response and may help a bit but keeping it over 3500 rpm in your case will work better i would think.

I'm not sure how much further up the scale mine will hit boost at if it changes at all.

Owens felt with all the turbo mods it should spool at about the same point as the 3076.
If so,and with the new ECU it could be fun.

Fun is a understatement of what your car will be like once it's done !

I was told you have option of linear with the pedal box but also eco and an extra sport function . Will certainly make it more responsive.

I'll follow up with review once it's on tomorrow night :)

I'll look forward to that.

I think from what Storm have told me and from looking at Syvecs software management that pretty much anything can be mapped within reason and that might be something to look into once the thing is actually running.

You'll love what the pedal box does Alex.....its weird....like a mini remap for your throttle pedal. Let me know when your after the RS3 grill as can do next day delivery for you.
