Looking for a bit of advice from you guys.
I've got a 55 reg 2.0Tdi 140 SE with the "infamous" BLB engine. After many a sleepless night I had the chain drive/balance shaft/hex drive sorted. Had a new condenser fitted for the air con and mechanically got it pretty straight.
I didn't pay top dollar for it a couple of years back as history was missing and the paintwork was not too clever.

So what is my dilemma, the car has not missed a beat for the last year, have it serviced every year/6000 miles religiously but do I get the paintwork done. Gonna need a full respray and looking at a grand plus to get it done by a mate.
Or do I chop it in for a petrol 2.0tfsi? All I keep reading is issues appearing with the B7 tfsi's as they start to get on a bit.
My mechanic thinks I am mad, even if he doesn't get any more than servicing out of me after he has sorted out my car mechanically!!
After years driving Fords, I can never see me having anything but Audi's as I ****** love them!!
Just buying 2nd hand can be a bit of a lottery so stick with the Tdi or go Tfsi?

The only real downfall on the BLB/BRE engines are the oil pump and balance shaft issues, I'd be keeping it and telling you you're mad!!

stick with yours mate you could possibly only end up with another money pit.

At least you know yours is sorted and if you can get a full respray for just over a grand then do it. Seems a good price to me, hope you mates a good sprayer

I have a BLB and I had the oil pump / balance shaft issue sorted 5 years ago and at circa 68k. My car is now on nearly 120k and is 10 years old.
In the last 5 years I have had to replace the egr and the turbo and the car is now worth about £2k for a private sale.
I will keep mine now as for the last 30,000 she hasn't had any issues ( touch wood ! ).
