My left headlight sometimes switches off and comes back on a few seconds later. Swapped bulbs over still on left hand side.

Scan I done a while ago this came up

Address 55: Xenon Range Labels: 8P0-907-357.lbl
Part No: 8P3 907 357
Component: Dynamische LWR H01 0010
Revision: 00000001 Serial number:
Coding: 0000013

Part numbers for the xenon control module I have no idea where this is in the car!

Other thing I geuss that could be gone is the ballast.

Any ideas ? Thanks

I can do its a bumper off job isn't it ? I would try that next but after seeing the scan with the control module fault was going to try that first. Trying to avoid taking bumper off as I'll be freezing as I haven't done it before on this car lol

It's not happening to frequently maybe once every 15 mins at most sometimes won't do it for a while but it is hard to tell sometimes. No bulb out warning on dis as well.

I don't even know if the module is for both headlights or has one each. I don't suppose you know where the module is located ?

Where are you based? I can have a look at it for you if your near dartford? if not I'm sure you can get to a mates garage or something to keep out the cold?

The ballast is located under the headlight itself screwed into it.

Cheers mate I'm by Hampton court not a million miles away. If I get home earlier enough one evening I'll try swapping over ballasts.

Do you know if a ballast going out would normally give a error on dis ?

honestly i have seen cars through errors for nothing and yet the other day a friend bought an a5 with a number plate light dead yet no fault on dash... they are really weird

Ah ok cool cheers for your help I'll update the thread with how I get on !

Just swap the headlights over, its the same connector/wiring pinouts, if it follows, then swap the igniter packs across, if its got adaptive it will have 1 silver module & 1 black, so be aware of both.

More than likely its the silver module, but until such tests are carried out you cant dismiss the headlight itself or the wiring, have fun :)

By headlights do you mean the ballasts underneath the headlight ? Sorry not very clued up with this sort of stuff.

I don't think it has adaptive headlights as in side to side but does go up and down on its own.

I've already swapped bulbs over which I thought had the igniter packs on the back of the bulb? Stayed on the same headlight.

You see the scan result said a fault with the module 8P3 907 357 could there still not be that ?

Just checked the price of module and ballast both pretty expensive don't want to get it wrong lol

That part number is for the levelling controller, that doesn't affect the actual bulb as such, unless its shorting out of course.

Just swap headlights from side to side 1st & see if the fault stays or follows, if it follows then swap the silver module underneath over with the other on the same faulting headlight & see if it works fine then, simple process of elimination.

Ah I think I see what you mean now only problem is it doesn't happen very often so would have to swap over ballasts then put everything back.

That fault code may be from my car being mapped then as I sounds like it would be unlikely that the level control unit would only effect one headlight.

That scans from a fair few months ago so I'll try and get another scan done as well .

Either way bumpers got to come off :(

can remove lights without bumper off , well facelift model you can , as ive just spent £143 on 2 new uprated phillis xenon bulbs which will be fitted the day they arrive as mine look like poor halogen headlight output.

I've changed the bulbs on my already went in through the wheel arch so may try get to the ballasts that way.

Will have to wait till the snow goes now though to cold to be doing that outside !

Had the same issue with low light output and fitted Philips x-treme visions last week. Garage had to take the front off. They are very good lamps indeed. Possibly too good as I've been flashed a couple of times :)

Right after ordering a new ballast today the other headlights also doing ito_O. So I geuss it can't be the ballast.

Does anyone know where the levelling controller is ?

Only other thing I can think of is I have aftermarket 6k bulbs maybe there on there way out ? There about a year old.

It looked like the went out together while driving earlier so I'm geuss it must be something before the bulbs and ballasts.

Only thing I know of is this levelling control module

Help lol

I might try a pair of these myself.

Right going to keep this up to date so far after putting standard bulbs back in haven't had any issues. Touch wood :tapedshut:.

So once I'm sure they haven't done it again for a while I'll be sticking some more 6k bulbs back in.

Haven't had any issues with standard bulbs so putting new 6ks back in today. Wouldn't have thought the bulbs would have done it as the fault stayed on the same headlight once switched then both started doing it. Weird !

Just been searching for this issue and came across this thread, Girlfriend has an A3 8V 64 plate and the passenger headlight keeps going on and off, the bulb colour doesn't seem to be the same colour as drivers side as well. Its a completely standard car so wont be modified in any way. Is this likely to be a bulb issue or a ballast issue, anyway of checking apart from taking all the wheel arches out, i assume its out of warranty as well so cant get Audi to sort it! Thanks Sam
