Fogs as DRLs

Prob been done a 1000 times before but today after retrofitting fogs to my mk5 golf i coded the 8P to have the fogs as DRLs, that way whenever the car is running there is lights on at the front :)

As my wife and kids are always in the car it makes sense as a safety feature

anyother coding tweeks people have down?

57 Plate Jan 2008, its got a 30 byte CECM, that said my mk5 has a 23byte CECM and i was able to do it

In CECM go into coding, then long code helper, tick Fog lights as DRLs then go through the rest of the long code and look for DRL as foglights USA only, tick that and it will work, my golf is a 2004

Brill I'll give that a try at the weekend, did you manage the mirror dip on the golf, that's one thing I've been trying to get to work on our 08 golf

Mirror dip is just in the door module i havent done puddle lights but have retrofitted electirc rear windows (mine being 2004 TDI SE meant it came with keep fit rear windows :( )

Ive done corner fog lights, havent done seep on lock/unlock as missus doesnt like it lol
 
isnt it illegal to drive in town with Fogs on?

Yes, the only time driving with fog lights on gets you in trouble is if its dark and there isnt any fog, as they are only on in daylight hours there isnt an issue

Interesting idea having the fogs as drls, with some white leds as the fog lights it would look class

anyone else tried this through vcds?
 
Mine has the fogs as DRLs, i just have ultra white bulbs in and dimmed right down to around 20% light output.

I had LED bulbs but the live was the wrong side so they didnt light, and i couldnt be bothered to swap the wires in the plug

As yet i havent dimmed mine down the mk5 golf actually says DRL in green on the cluster when they are on which is a nice touch tbh

They cant, the reason they cant is because only the fogs are on, no sidelights or headlights, in the mk5 if i got stopped by a ***** copper id say err alright then, says DRL on the dash.............

how do you turn side lights off? I tried using vcds and all i couldve done is use foglights as drl's but the side lights stay on too?

Can anyone with pictures if possible show how to turn the side lights off?

also has anyone done the coming home - leaving home tweak?
