I have, within the last couple of days, cancelled my order for a S3 saloon. I don't want to go into the reasons why. However, I thought for someone who is considering purchasing a S3 saloon, there is now a stock one in Coventry Audi's compound.. It would certainly save the 16-20 week wait for a factory order saloon.

Its a build week 48 of 2014 car, which was delivered to the Dealership a couple of days before Christmas

This is the spec. of the car I ordered -

  • Audi S3 Saloon
  • S-tronic
  • Pearl effect sepang blue
  • Black fine nappa leather with silver stitching
  • Black headling
  • Matt brushed aluminium inlays
  • 19" 5 twin spoke star anthracite wheels
  • Comfort pack (Parking system plus, 'normal' cruise control, light & rain sensor pack with auto dimming rear view mirror)
  • Interior lighting pack
  • Hill hold assist
  • Door mirrors electric folding
  • Audi 10 speaker sound system

As can be seen there is not a lot of options I specified. I never do on any of my cars. My personal choice. However, those that find they do need sat-nav can have the SD card based version retro fitted by Coventry Audi for around £500.

What car am I going to buy? I'm not sure myself at the moment. I'm going to consider my options

Sorry to hear that BH - hope you find you're perfect match somewhere out there.

Did they sting you the deposit or was it an amacable split ? (excuse spelling if incorrect)
 
Oh no.... does that mean you will lose your £500 deposit?
You must be glad you didn't pick it up in December then?
 
£500? I had to pay £1000!! cheeky feckers!

Does this mean the RS4 is back on? I hope you didn't loose too much in the s3
 
Full deposit refunded without having to ask!

Result !!!! Good to hear that. I'm sure they'll find your motor a new home soon.
 
Shame to hear of the cancellation but at least you've been treated very well by your dealers.

At least now that you're going to consider another car we can hopefully get the chance to "advise" you again, for better or worse :p

Oh I had to pay the eye watering lump sum upon collection but there was no deposit. Just one of those surreal, yeah i'll have one of those with all of that stuff on it please kinda deals :eek:

Was very weird going in and ordering a car without having to pay or sign anything...but then being Aberdeen I dont think they'd care if I didnt want it as it'd be sold within hours of landing on their facebook page!

If I was buying a new Audi, I'd be wanting to specify it myself, you won't get any kind of special discount because it's in stock and you've been limited to the specification. If I found out that it had been sitting at the dealers for what will probably be 2 months by the time it goes I wouldn't be too pleased but I guess if you are desperate for one then you'd be happy enough.

I suppose they will also sell it for the full RRP without the Carwow/carfile discount you had been offered as well.

I know its crazy stuff! I sat shocked for a few seconds, I never expected BH to cancel his order, its sad times, looking forward to seeing what he's going to get instead even if its not an Audi.
 
Well thats that then! The S3 has to go, Saturday I had better trudge down to the Porshe garage and see if they can get me a Cayman.:jester:

Bristle, you should at least tell us why, although I could generally assume. I almost cancelled mine a couple of times, plus another couple of times, then again!

What will you go for next?

Genuinely gutted, helped me get through my wait with your madness/participation!

Sorry to hear you've cancelled your order. The spec is almost identical to mine, and it's all you really need.

Given the chance right now, would I still pick and S3, hmmm, not sure, probably run my immaculate TT Mk1 for a while and get an order placed for a 5.0 Mustang to be honest. As nice as the S3 is, I still don't think it has enough character for me to consider it a long termer. No matter what you do to a 2.0 4 cylinder, you can't make it an interesting engine (well unless it's a boxer).

Mine was a stock vehicle but I got a 9% discount on it. Plus it had to be transported from Aberdeen Audi down to Surrey. Discount isn't therefore out of the question necessarily.

RS3??? That what I'm thinking....The spec of my S3 was nearly 38k and to be fair I wouldn't bother with pano roof northings like that as I think the RS3 will have a better natural presence than the S3...Just my opinion.
 
I would imagine a slightly better discount than a new order, plus there's obviously the benefit of not having a long wait for it.
 
Ah, that's a shame. You were so excited about getting it.
 
SO WAS I - dying to know what BH is going for now..... bet it's an RS3! or highly discounted RS4.

MY S3 saloon is now getting very quick, up to 1500 miles. I can see 3 points being added soon.
