Ok... I need to repair 2 items in my car.
The glove box as you open it the left hand side... whatever it is clip, hinge has snapped clean in half... Do i need a new glovebox or can it be repaired?

Second on the agenda is my armrest there appears to be no clip on there? Do i just get a clip off eBay and pray it comes with instructions?

Both are typical faults for the a4. Mine have both broke. I got a new front for the glove box, and changed locks over. Just make sure every now an again you lube up the actuator part. As this being stiff is what leads to it breaking.

As for the arm rest. Im not sure i just leave mine down and deal with it. As audi want 60quid for it. As inwas told have to replace the whole top.
If there is just a clip for it, it may be on the part database in the sticky

Mines leather god only knows what that would be.

I saw a hinge fixing kit on eBay but looked tacky and cheap... Will keep my eye out for a good front and swap them over..

Cheers!

I fixed the glove box personally, i just used some 2 part epoxy glue, took the hinge apart and pulled it together with a self taping screw through the back of the snapped hinge, then drilled a 1mm hole in the damper.

All work fine and has been fine for 3 months so far! But it depends whether you want to replace the parts in question or bodge them up!

I managed to fix the catch on my leather armrest lid - one of the end lugs had broken off and the spring had escaped. Its a bit of a faff but the top of the lid can be (carefully) prised off to give access to the cheapo plastic catch.

I simply replaced the plastic catch (from EBay) and placed a small spring beneath it. I think I had to use a little glue when putting the lid back together, but you can't tell its been apart. Has worked fine for almost 10 months now.

Key thing is look at your existing catch and make sure you purchase the correct replacement - there are a few variations across the VAG range. If all that sounds too much of a job then I'd visit a scrappy and get yourself a new lid/armrest.
.

For the armrest catch I put in one of those magnetic catches you get on kitchen cabinets, it's not that pretty but you cant see it when its closed and it does the job.

Do a search and you should find an excellent thread about repairing the broken glovebox hinge. From memory, it was written by @quattrojames on the B6 forum.
