I had some red LEDs in my TT footwells, they'd come on with the headlights. Anyone done this in their A3, would love to get them again?

i put red leds foot well lights in front and rear powered from cig lighter illumination.12v button led just drill a hole and push in look the bizz at night.
from bolt on bits item number 390908421065
you can get them in red/blue/white/amber/green

do you want footwells or for footwells to turn on while driving?

I just want a nice soft red glow in the footwell when the headlights are on while driving. Ideally hardwired and not in the ciggy lighter.

What year is your car? I retrofit at least 10 footwell lights a month the factory way which works in the way you want it to work, as you have wired it into the cig lighter I would expect the lights to come on at night too but with full brightness.
It should be wired into the main electrics module and then controlled from the computer separately from the interior ambient light

Sorry I got confused with the replies as I'm looking at it on my phone.

Smeds if you don't currently have footwells installed then I can install them for you. I would just need to know what year a3 you have as earlier models couldn't do the ambient footwell

I'll take a look at what I've got, didn't realise there was a retrofit for this. The one I had in the TT were just cheap led strips.

My A3 has the interior light pack the only thing i need to add is the ones under the rear of the front seats.

I would love mine to come on when the dipped beam is on but they're currently wired per factory into the ccm.

a friends vw golf dims them when driving but then when the doors are opened they're at the user-defined brightness .. would this just need rewiring or a no go?

It honestly depends on the year of the car, i have recently fitted it into a 2011 A3 where it was on full brightness when doors open but user set brightness while driving at night.

My 2009 is pre-bcm so this might make a difference, might look into the wiring and see if anything is do-able.

The rears aren't that hard to do. if your good with wiring then its even easier. i can make you a loom for that if you wanted?
You are a gent I have them already from T8UPS though just something I have never got round to tbh I don't sit in the back either lol

they work from the cig illumination not the cig power socket. and you can still dim when you dim your dash lights, and with them been LED power consumption is nothing. i had 30 of these fitted to my dodge ram for marker lights.

Yes but you have to lower the dash lights, i prefer to have the interior lights on full where the footwell can be controlled via DIS.
On your 2011 A3 you can have that if you just wired it into the CEM

OK it seems I already lights in the footwells, they're quite a weak white light so never really noticed them till now. Guess I just thought it was light from the normal interior lights and haven't looked too closely at them.
