Hi, can anyone advise, I have a 1998 Audi A4 TDI estate, I got in it as usual turned the key, it went to start but then cut straight out, now the engine turns but won't take/start, I have changed the lift pump in tank but still nothing, all fuses seem to be fine regards, Don Happy new year to all

Open the rear ashtray cover and on the left of the ashtray is a cover with a diagnostic plug type design on it.
Slide it toward you and you will see the plug underneath.

the 1998 A4 tdi shouldn't have a lift pump in the tank. at that age it should a ve engine with a mechanical pump on the side of the head.
have you tried loosening one of the injector pipes while you get someone to turn it over to see if there is fuel coming up?
