Unsure whether to go for SLine spec or Sport on my new A3. The additional kit such as part leather seats, flat bottom steering wheel, 18" alloys and the body kit look attracts time and the additional cost is only £11 a month on a PCP. Is there much difference to the ride with the 18" alloys? I did test drive a A3 TFSI yesterday as Carlisle Audi do not have a 2.0 TDi to test drive and I could not tell much difference to my current Sport on 17" alloys but I could only have about 15 mins in the car. Also is the High Beam Assist worth having as I do a fair bit of driving in the dark from Nov to March on the commute to work?

I love the high beam assist. There are some scenarios where it works perfectly, and other scenarios where you need to do the job yourself

I'm afraid the only way you are really going to judge the difference is to drive cars with the two specs fitted. What's soft or stiff for one individual (that's the key) is not the same for another.

I set out to order a Sport, but ended up buying an S line. I wanted SE suspension and I wanted to buy a stock vehicle and, believe it or not, the only one my dealer could source was an S line in Aberdeen - I'm in Hampshire! I'm more than glad that I went for the S line as it looks so much beter than tbe Sport. My previous A3 was an 8P Sport and I found the suspension on the 8V Sport softer, but my wife was dead against having sport suspension again, so SE suspension it was.

The 18 inch wheels give a lot of road noise which took a while to get used to, but I don't notice it so much now. I didn't like the standard alloys on the Sport, so it would have increased the price of a Sport for me to have a different style, whereas I do like the S line alloys. I particularly like the more agressive front bumper on the S line and the Sport looks bland by comparison.

Go for the S line - you know you want to!

I was originally going to buy a sport and spec up, but by the time I added the things I wanted, it was more expensive than an S-line as some of the additions were standard there. Worked out cheaper to buy the S-line with less options...

The other thing was that I didn't think I would be bothered about having Xenons as I've always been able to see perfectly well with halogens. However, they are another reason I'm glad I went for the S line.

Like everyone else, I originally wanted the sport but after seeing them parked side by side and then adding options that were standard on the s-line it was a no brainier. I also have the normal sport suspension (not se) and find its great, the car sits at the right hight whilst remaining comfortable over poor roads. Tbh I don't like the look of the se suspension, it makes it look like an all-road.

I have a sport model (with sports suspension) which originally had 17 inch alloys, I have recently swapped them for 18 inch alloys and there is absolutely no difference in the ride comfort.

The Xenon headlights are the only thing I regret about not buying an S line for. But you can add these onto a sport admittedly. I personally think the interior of the sport is much nicer than an S line. I hate cars with black headlining which I find stupid that you can't change on an S line. In a sport you can have different contrast seats which everyone always comments on how nice they are.

Obviously the S line looks sportier, but it depends what you want at the end of the day.

I also wanted to buy a Sport but ended up with an S-Line as the extras were worth it. I don't agree about the ride-height (I and most people who have S-Lines with SE suspension don't notice it and the extra comfort is better (for me). I agree about the black headling but now I've got it I never notice it! I much prefer the S-Line bodywork to the Sport - especially the detail in front of the front wheel. Below is a photo of my S-Line with its 18" wheels and with the SE suspension it suits me fine. Main Beam assist is wonderful and it works really well. Just shout if you have further questions.

Following on from @glospete about the ride height, there is only 15mm difference between the two, so here's what a sport suspension with 18" alloys looks like:

Hope it helps you decide :)

Beauty over comfort, sport suspension for me. It's a personal thing after all

Cheers for the pics guys - definitely prefer the look of the Sport suspension with the 18" alloys. MA3RC - love those wheels but not an option for the S Line!

IMO, Sport doesn't look very erm Sporty! ;) Before I settled on an S Line I started configuring a Sport, but after changing the alloys, seats and adding Xenons I wasn't far off the price on an S Line. But it still didn't look as good as an S Line, so it was an easy choice to upgrade.

Those alloys aren't an option on Sport in the UK too.

Hopefully, you're fully aware of the discounts available with online brokers? If not, take a look as it could then sway you to get an S Line :D

Cheers yeah gonna go with S Line 184 TDi with sport suspension. I am getting a 10 % discount from Audi dealer. Which online brokers could beat that? Still unsure whether to go for PCP or PCH? PCP would give me the option to buy after 3 years if I can retire at 55 but PCH offers cheaper monthly payments.

Carwow, orange wheels, car file, broker4cars. I had a previous car on a pch and wanted to do the same on my a3 but audi only do a pcp but so far I'm happy with it, also any equity at the end is mine to put into a new car
